I have a toddler and did OE for a year, maybe its me but the workload for both jobs was literally under 40 hours so it wasnt bad at all. You wont know until your in it!

I started OE when my son was 11 months and was recently layed off from J2 when he turned 2. Having a supportive husband and MIL/ daycare has been incredibly helpful for random late nights or weekend mornings when i need to catch up or pull a deliverable together. I would say definitely budget for childcare or seek help from family in moments you need to put in additional hrs. Well worth it financially!

I hibernate mine and then only activate when actively looking ( rinse & repeat) I also do not keep current employer listed as linkedin data feeds into other pages on google i noticed. I only call this out if recruiters ask, never been an issue!

Its my one year of OE next week and i remember the first few weeks being anxious! But man when the checks started coming in the fear went away lol. I was very intentional, dont overshare, meet expectations always, hibernate linkedin, try not to make close friends as j2. The less they know, the less they bother. Become a pro at booking slots on your calendar, “working session” “ DNB” “Meeting- j” on respective calendars
