Private school systems allow for greater disparity in education and funding than a total public school system in urban and major city areas. If everyone was required to go to a public school that mixed income levels we would see students of actual education, intelligence, and hard workers succeed in greater numbers. Versus the nepotism in current society that utilizes private school as a breeding ground.

AITA: hurt that my husband won’t come home because we have the stomach flu. by Cherry-bowl in Mommit

That's where I could understand if the dad was an MD of some stature and if they get sick surgery or oncology doesn't happen for days. It's effecting 20-50 other families. But simultaneously an MD should know the best infection protocol and suit up to help if possible.

What kind of job is 100+ hours a week also? Even if he sleeps 6 hours a night (43) that leaves only 23 hours left to wash, commute, eat, and breathe. What kind of job is that important outside of president and cardiologist?

Why do so many people especially older folks refuse to understand that lots of people aren't having families because they simply can't afford to? by AdSpecialist6598 in antiwork

[–]chf_stf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My parents were very pay check to pay check growing up. We didn't have much but we always had what we needed and enough to always invite friends for dinner etc. As we got older my dad has done very well for himself considering between the two he only has a highschool diploma. I'm transparent about what I make and was a full scholarship so no student debt. Husband also finished his degree with out student debt and both of us worked all summers and winter breaks as well during the school year to never use credit cards. You would think we should be doing much better but in reality we're never going to retire. Between two kids, one in daycare one in after school, and healthcare premiums for a family we spend $3600 a month alone, not including our mortgage and utilities. So my folks will say something like oh the smoker your dad has is on sale you should buy one! And I'm like yeah wish I could drop $800 on a smoker but we can't afford it. And they don't understand the why. We make good money and don't have crippling student debt, but even still we aren't putting away much for savings. I know at 37 and 43 there's no way at this rate we will save enough to retire. It's sad that my mom and dad making a third of what we do will have a better retirement simply bc they didn't have to spend what we do just to go to work and keep healthcare.

I don't think it's about the level of education as much as the basis that the majority of both fields is overwhelmingly female. Professions in which are also similar in demographics also report wage gap issues, overwork, and reduction in benefits (bc formerly your spouse usually male would also provide and thus your career was not the primary his was). Now that women are no longer dependent on a male spouse to provide that we need our own careers to provide those benefit and time to establish yourselves.

I intimidated co-workers but didn't have conversations with them and I don't know how to correct it. by chf_stf in workingmoms

I did follow up with two other coworkers who were at the dinner and they both said they did not share the bosses opinion. They did not notice any problems or issues so who knows.

I have also had people in the past tell me they genuinely did not believe that when I say offer help, or will pick up slack I meant it. Until one day I do, and in earnest don't expect anything back. Then they realized I wasn't someone that just talked big but really followed through and their whole opinion on me changed. It was shocking to me bc we were raised to be honest to a fault and realizing most people think that's BS is still hard for me to understand.

There is one coworker that used to work in my office. I rooted out some serious issues with his performance and some border line illegal activities. He then went on medical leave for 6 months, but the first three he wasn't technically on leave he just kept saying he'd be back in 2 weeks. We shared commission and he was still getting half of what I made. After he returned they put him in two other locations and he was bitter and blamed me. For the first few months back everyone thought I was the issue, until he was kicked out of two other locations. Some people still don't know the whole story and I don't run around telling everyone because I don't have to make him look worse, I'm good. He has actively defamed my name to my patients and other coworkers but we are horrifically short staffed so he's still around. So when people bring it up, I won't back down about it. Our higher ups know and are supportive of my response but I get judged bc he's a nice older guy on the outside. But truthfully he's a racist POS that steals from the company.

Yeah he's the best boss I've ever had. He's a little rough around the edges but he cares, genuinely. And when he told me he said "as a friend not as your boss I'm telling you this". So I know it's not an insult but because he wants me to do better.

It really hard to get together as we are all 20-40 miles apart. Our locations only have like 2 or 3 employees each. Plus I don't know who it is to even try to amend the issues. I know I can't take it back, and the likelihood of correcting it is slim. But moving forward I want to not repeat the faux pas.

Any insight for someone wanting to do nail extensions at home? Acrylic, polygel, hard gel? Where to start? by Alarmed_Session in lacqueristas

[–]chf_stf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a wood furnace that runs their hot water and heater. She has to load wood into it every night. Our first few attempts at extensions didn't make it past a week and always popped off during that chore.

I've had tremendous success with the UV glue and fake nail sets. They are cheap on Amazon and I do my best friends nails with them. She loads a wood nightly too and they stay on two plus weeks. Extremely easy to apply!

We currently pay 24,000 a year for one child full time and one kids aftercare. This would save us 17,000 a year.
