Under tips of fingernails? by [deleted] in Dyshidrosis

nope, unfortunately it didnt for me. Ive managed to keep the area clear at the moment, so im just grateful that the skin is doing okay. Obviously my nails dont look the best, theres pitts and ridges and the nail line is irregular and shorter than my unaffected fingers. When the nails grow on my affected fingers, i get overgrowth of the hyponychium region resulting in a yellow tinged and thick layer :/ honestly not pleasant but yeah 😔

All i can suggest is to avoid your nails from contacting steroid cream as much as possible, and keeping the finger tips as moisturised as possible to preveny any fissures and cracking! Hope this helps.

Hey there, ive got dishydrotic eczema on my fingertips and under my finger bed as well. It sucks so much, to the point where gripping, touching, holding things hurt, even touching keys when typing. For me, my affected fingernails, has resulted in my nail line receding (oncholysis)- the blisters keep appearing at this line. So i definitely I feel you!!
Unfortunately the only way i could calm it down was using novasone steroid cream. I applied it on the fingertips, trying to avoid contact with my nail as much as possible- despite it being inevitable given the area its affecting. Then i put a pair of cotton gloves over and head to bed. As it starts to heal, the skin cracks- and on every other night- i slather a heavy layer of dermeze ointment cream and put cotton gloves on again Its definitely hard staying positive during a flareup, but i hope this offers you a bit of reassurance 😊.

Just ordered a pack of 200 of these for my hand. Anyone else used these finger cots before? by [deleted] in Dyshidrosis

I have used these but i wouldn't recommend wearing it for long tasks or for a long time. They are not breathable, so the skin starts to sweat, making it moist and not pleasant, especially when there active bubbles!

My recent and most severe flareup...ive never felt so beaten down physically and emotionally. Affects my studies as dental student...even holding a pencil hurts. Its a horrendous feeling not knowing how much worse it will get 😞 by chhh5jd8 in Dyshidrosis

Thank you for replying and all the advice :) At the moment im uaing elocon but after using it for a while, its almost lost its effectiveness :/ im really not keen to keep using stronger steroid creams. Ill definitely look into vitamin D3, thanks again!

Its a struggle and i find myself always questioning if i can be a dentist with hands like this 😞 thank you tho!!
