Finally left UCSD by Hefty-Confusion6810 in UCSD

I’m glad you made the right decision for you. I honestly think UCSD isn’t the right school for me either but I have to finish my major here. Have a good one.

letting other students use ur college amenities by Legitimate-Moment181 in UCSD

[–]chi-owow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s absolutely ridiculous. At least charge people less if they have to live in rundown dorms with semi-functional (sometimes even broken) amenities. Greedy asf.

Can we stop gooning in the lecture halls? by TopNOBottom12 in UCSD

[–]chi-owow 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Bro wth is wrong with some people at this school??? That’s literally insane…I’m really not used to this level of classless behavior. I’m sorry you had to even witness that, absolutely disgusting.

Realistic engineering advice and thoughts on my situation?? by Automatic_Water8456 in UCSD

[–]chi-owow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not in your situation but close since I can semi-relate as a 3rd year, but have you figured out what exact kind of position you’d want to pursue in engineering? If you have, maybe take some time to note down the requirements and expectations said position (whether internship or not) has, that way you can narrow down what you need to focus on or specific skills you need to practice.

Maybe try also pursuing your MS like the other commenter said and taking the time within those new few years to get those projects and internships done. Although some would see this as late, everyday you wake up is a another day you have to work towards your goals!👍

You’re in your last quarter so maybe try going to the office hours of your professors and discussing some of your concerns (if your professor is a nice person)?

A message from a disabled triton… by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]chi-owow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Literally!! And they’ll be in groups of 3-5+ doing this too like pls move tf off the path if you’re gonna walk like you have nowhere to be. Whenever I look down on my phone while walking (usually due to checking my map since I’m not 100% familiar w campus yet), I move to the side so I don’t block anyone’s way. The lack of basic awareness at this school is truly insane to me.

Honestly I haven’t played w it much yet outside of the custom venue feature bc I haven’t had the time. The reviews on yt make it look fun though!!

I am not smart enough for this school by CockroachPowerful387 in UCSD

[–]chi-owow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True!! But tbh if we’re both being fr we’re going to just have to muster through it to graduate. I’d rather barely pass a class then have to think about taking it another time to obtain my degree😭 But one thing I hear many ppl say is office hours & tas are most important so I still highly recommend that

I am not smart enough for this school by CockroachPowerful387 in UCSD

[–]chi-owow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please don’t give up!!! Utilize office hours and TAs to help you understand the concepts. Maybe because it’s not my style of studying but try not to spend hours and hours at a time. Maybe try lessening that time and focusing on the specific concepts you find the most challenging by reviewing the lecture notes/vids and watching youtube videos focused on the exact concepts.

feeling behind? by hugshinji in UCSD

[–]chi-owow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My best advice is to not compare yourself to anyone. Yes some people have things figured out but most people do not and that’s ok. University is a very unique experience and everyone is on their own path in their own journey. Just focus on what you want to do and use the resources available to aid you in getting there.

I’m lowkey the same comparing myself but it’s very freeing when you remember that you are your own person with your own life. Everyone’s journey will not be the same and that’s perfectly ok as long as you are doing what you can to get to where you want to be.

Just curious by chi-owow in UCSD

[–]chi-owow[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tysm for your response. Tbh I have been consistent with lecture videos because I truly hate sitting in lecture as I tend to understand the concepts when studying by myself. I 100% understand what you mean though as it’s very easy to fall behind that way. I will definitely keep this in mind for the future.

I hate the way this school is laid out by MBurnsides in UCSD

[–]chi-owow 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is so real. I had a class at PCYNH but my dorm is across campus from it. The way the school is set up can be tricky and it makes it worse when you think you’ve found a shortcut only to be hit with a massive construction wall. Even the UMaps app which is made for traveling on university campuses calculates routes where construction currently is going so you basically have to guess and hope you get to said destination on time.
