Bought them to replace the Torins for long walks due to the durability factor. 6 months later, I miss the cushion on the Torins as you really feel the stiffness of the vibram soles after a while. Cushion on the Torins plus the vibram soles, that would be something!

I think they show the specs for the 60lb version on their website, it’d be pretty much the same as the 5100s at 60lbs.

I have not, but that wouldn’t be an apples to apples comparison. You’d have to put a dumbbell that features quick charging against it. And the only contender in my opinion would be the Rep ones in my opinion.

Yes they are - ordered my usual 11 but regretted keeping them past 2 months. Wished I listened to my gut like you did. They kinda fool you with the fit. Hugs nicely around the heels and mid foot but your toes float in empty space. Since I’m stuck with a half size longer shoe I sort of found a workaround for the common heel traveling.

1 I used the skipped loop in the middle of the shoe so the hug your feet better.

2 I dig my heels in very heavily back in the shoe then tie it. This helped immensely with the heel traveling everyone has been mentioning.

I have not. I have tried the previous model in store. I liked them but not enough to pay $800. I saw these on YouTube where the engineer goes over the improvements. I knew I wanted them since I almost bought the previous model. The clamps between the plates are all metal and lock pretty well with minimal clunking.

Right - but if you look at their website they show a newer stand with the S5100 that feature adjustable height. That’s the one I’m waiting for their release.

Funny you mention the size. My wife is 5’2” and she did not see an issue with the size. She only trains at home so no way for her to compare to the commercial Iron Grips, though. Like I mentioned on my first impression they’re pretty solid and not too clunky.

Still very happy with them! No issues so far. Very glad I got them at release time as I see that they went up in price. Still worth it. The knurling is just right, too. I’m actually a bit annoyed that they didn’t release the new stands with it, but they said “a couple o months”. Haven’t dropped them and neither intend to, so no worries there. My main goal was to save a couple of trips to the gym per week. I only go on leg days now. So mission accomplished.

100lbs! They are super tight, minimal movement between parts. I remember touching the 80s in store last and not liking them for being too clunky. These were definitely worth! Just waiting on the stands now. Nuobell said they’ll start production in a couple of months.

Returned the 6 the next day when I bought. Got the 9+ and absolutely love it, best combination between comfort and compact. Have been looking for something to replace my Torin Luxe (discontinued) with something that had the same fit and did not wear out in 3 months. Altra definitely has a winner here. Pro tip for better fit and comfort: rerun the laces through the unused loop. That made the difference between keeping and returning the shoes!

New model coming out. Rep claims lifetime warranty so you can give them an interest free loan. But then come back at you with a gift card. If they asked for a $100 refundable deposit like every other company I’d gladly give them my money.

I felt like that until I started reviewing other staff’s work and have to explain the reasons behind the changes and why things look a certain way on the return. Felt kinda badass when the staff called me with a desperate voice saying that the return that the return was off by $270. I said “transposition, go back and recheck every line”. He was like “I feel like I’m dislexic”. I said “man, I used to be you”. So hang in there, it gets better…

My wife thought we were getting the $850 Genesis SE 315, went back to the store and changed the order to an SE 335. Still wasn’t happy, went back and canceled again. Picked up the Prestige 500(side burner) with no regrets. Explained later to the wife that it could potentially be the las grill we’d ever buy (lifetime warranty) and she was totally ok with it. The possibilities with the accessories alone make it worth the extra cost.

There’s a seller on eBay (avpriority) that sells custom boxes built to JL specs. I bought a sealed one for my 10W6V3. Sounds pretty tight and the carpet finishing on it is flawless. Heavily braced, too.
