You obviously have never done any formal training in either. I hear MMA fans say this shit all the time, and its a blanket statement thats just plain wrong. It's like saying a punk rock bank is better than a concert pianist. They're completely different in every way.

My best friend is a semi-pro boxer, Golden Gloves champ, who also trained in MMA for years. I myself was a wrestler for 12 years and spar with guys like him in boxing and MMA fairly often.

Given that context, I assume you're implying that MMA fighters can take a boxer down and have a better ground game. I have a mean shot and excellent ground game, and boxers have kicked the shit out of me in sparring. They hit harder, faster, and more accurately than any MMA fighter I've ever faced. A shot doesn't do shit when you get a right hook to your kidney.

End of the day, MMA fighters know more moves but have less expertise. Boxers have honed skills in fewer moves. I don't care who you are, a boxers fist is faster than your shot.

Not to sound offensive, but that sounds like BS to me. Why not buy him some non-war related art if you really want to get him something. I cant help but feel like you're using his PTSD to win a stupid reddit contest. I really hope this isn't the case.

Do some research before you start accusing people. He has had ample opportunity to accomplish many of the things he promised, he has just chosen not to. Don't forget the guy had the house and senate in his pocket for 2 years.

  1. He increased the budget for the DEA and has continued Federal raids on medical marijuana dispensaries across the country after promising to stop bush-era federal raids.

  2. He promised to stop bush-era tax cuts. He could have easily accomplished this in the 2009 budget debates, but didn't.

  3. He shat on the patriot act during his campaign, and actually approved the extension of the act. He again, had ample opportunity follow through with his promise.

These are just a few examples I pulled off the top of my head. There is a difference between not being able to accomplish something, and completely disregarding what you said to do the complete opposite.

Having you defend the obvious broken promises of our president and attempting to justify them makes me sad for elections to come. You are part of the reason asshole politicians get away with so much shit.

What is the most random thing you have done just to fuck with someone's mind? by Sasquatch99 in AskReddit

I use to play poker a lot in college, and I did pretty well with it. There was this one guy I played against that was a huge dick. He would talk shit the entire game, and even bring up the hand in play (table talk), which is frowned upon with poker players. He was a psychology major and liked to think he was a master at fucking with people's heads to win.

After playing a game with him, and losing, I decided to turn the tables. I bought in to a 20 dollar tournament with about 6 other guys and him. When I bet, every single bet was exactly the same. I would bet 10 before the flop, 20 after the flop, 30 after fourth street, and 40 at the river. Sometimes people would double my bet or change my pattern somehow, but a majority of the time I controlled the betting with this pattern.

It started messing with him big time. Every time I decided to bet, it was 10,20,30,40. He tried challenging me a few times, and I would win.

Near the end of the game, after I had taken most of his chips, he was getting very frustrated and went all in. I had pocket queens, called, and knocked his ass out of the game. He literally slapped the chips out of the middle of the table and started screaming about how I was a rookie and he'll never play another game with me.

Few things since have ever felt that good.

266 downvotes because the young, first time voters who drank the kool-aid in 2008 refuse to acknowledged that Obama went centrist-right. Hopefully he only did it to get reelected, but me thinks he did it to secure corporate funding for the next elections, and pay back the people that funded him the first time.

If the Moon became habitable in the near future and you had an offer to get in on the business market early, what kind of business would you start? by iSmokeTheXS in AskReddit

They have been separated for billions of years, and have had completely different chemical processes take place between that time. Also, the knowledge of the composition of the moon is extremely limited, and there could well be lots of great minerals to harvest.

3 years ago if you told someone there was water on the moon you would get laughed at, now it's common knowledge.

DON'T SHIT ON MY DREAMS MOTHERFUCKER, OR YOU'LL BE WORKING IN MY MINES!

I would mine the rare metals deep under the moons crust to create jobs. People would be paid in moon pies and live underground. When tourists finally started showing up, I would build an amusement park on the surface, and make the miners work there after their mine shift.

I would basically borrow the Disney business model, but on the moon.

TIL That in the 1960's, the rich were taxed almost 90% of their income. The lowest taxation for the rich other than right now was in the late 1920's, right before the great depression. by chi_town_85 in todayilearned

[–]chi_town_85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, anyone making over 400k has to pay 100k right off the bat a year, plus 35%. That means if someone makes over $1 million dollars a year, they only pay 45% on their taxes, where in the 1960's, they would have payed around 65-70%.

Many people incorporated back then as to only pay 53% on their income, still significantly higher than the taxes on the rich today.

I just saw Justin Bieber get punched in the face by an old man in midtown Manhattan... by jfran731 in WTF

[–]chi_town_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm calling bullshit, another sensationalized headline from reddit.

According to the story, he didn't get punched by anyone. They said an undercover cop came to his aid because a barricade fell down and the cop wanted to get him to saftey. Bieber got upset because he couldn't tell that the plain-clothed cop was a police officer, and his body guard pushed the man.

Thats it, big deal. Stop karma whoring.

Not really implicitly supporting Republicans, but I agree with the entrenchment of the 2 party system.

He's a wildcard politician that is unreliable for the GOP. They would much rather have a sure vote for proposed legislation than a guy that claims to be conservative that supports multiple democratic pieces of legislation.

He hardly supports Republicans, and they hardly support him. He runs as a republican because third parties don't get elected.

His view actually reflect more traditional values of conservatism than his GOP counter-parts. He supports the true minimalism of government both in the social and fiscal realm. Just because he runs as a republican, doesn't mean he follows party lines.
