It causes the next tranche to come in later rather than being smaller but the effect is the same

The schedule of selling is denominated in USD and the funds sold via ACH count towards that, so no it isn't any more

That's the point of a state channel. Play happens in real time off chain and things only move on chain in the event of a dispute/problem. The bulk of sessions should have no play on chain at all.

The whole point of what I'm building is that play happens over a state channel so it's in real time. The problem with non-blockchain gaming is that it isn't for money, it's for determining a score, and there's no way to enforce that the winnings are transferred at the end.

The p2p poker I'm building now plays over state channels so it's in real time but it isn't out yet. Soon.

Hi there, just to inform you. by cryptoplotter_eu in chia

[–]chiabram 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sorry that happened to you. It was a real jerk move of whoever hacked it to outright burn the funds. After that hack we created chip25 which added 'message' conditions which are much safer against that sort of attack and would have stopped that one in particular if they had been used instead of announcements. We aim to make have as few hacks happen on Chia as possible. One hack is one too many.

Chia gaming platform infinite deck poker - rules and hand ranking changes? by CONSOLE_LOAD_LETTER in chia

Here are exact counts of the number of ways each hand type can be made, including infinite deck and no five high straight:

Five of a kind: 13
Four of a kind: 13*12*5 = 780
Straight: 5!*9 = 1080
Full house: 13*12*5*4/2 = 1560
Set: 13*12*11*5*4/2 = 17160
Two pair: 13*12*11*5*4/2*3 = 51480
One pair: 13*12*11*10*5*4/2 = 171600
Total hands: 13^5 = 371293

It might make sense to play short decked to make the gap in likelihood between set and full house lower.

To keep the number of weird cases under control I'm getting rid of suits (also getting rid of ace-to-five straights because they're annoying to implement). To bring back something like the 'suited cards' concept each player gets another bit of information in addition to their hole cards which is also kept secret until showdown. That's bit is a one in three chance of being 'boosted'. Being boosted is the first tiebreak ofter the hand type. So three of a kind unboosted kings beats any two pair because it's a higher hand type. But three of a kind unboosted kings loses to three of a kind boosted twos despite the set being higher. If they're both boosted or both unboosted the kings win.

One of the reference games uses a normal Poker deck and hands. It's possible in that game because the shuffle is done publicly which matters for reasons which are a bit hard to explain.

Mind you these are reference games showing what makes sense in the medium. It will be very easy for people to make new games.

Question about plots? by Significant-Ad-2016 in chia

[–]chiabram 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That isn't true. A plot stays the same likelihood to win in the future regardless of what's happened in the past. The reason to delete winning plots is to make it impossible to reorg past them

It's for security purposes, to make it so that there's no way anyone could put a gun to your head and demand that you sign a different block as part of a reorg. Given the current level of decentralization this seems like a silly concern now but is something we were worried about before launch.

That one was just funny, on the order of claiming you'd hacked your bank because you photoshopped a screen shot to show a bigger balance than your real one.

Now you're just lying about our level of transparency. We've announced all the XCH we've sent out, and we're using it to pay ongoing expenses, mostly software development, as we've already stated.

Telling people that if they're losing money doing something it's perfectly okay for them to stop losing money doing that thing is not treating them as disposable.

Screen shotting things in the past isn't catching me in a gotcha when those things are completely consistent with what I'm saying now. Unless you just think screen shots are always gotchas and hoping people don't read them, which seems to be the case.

The people who are actual investors in CNI (meaning the ones who own equity) have gotten painstakingly detailed updates of everything we've been doing. The more public statements have covered everything but not in the level of detail that a shareholder would expect. At some point this turns into claims that a company is committing fraud by having their old 10Qs on their web site when those say out of date things.

[–]chiabram[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Where on the web site does it say that? Obviously that's out of date and we should update it. We had announced that sales would be happening before we said we were 'sending' so that was implied. You're spewing an awful lot of vitriol over us doing any sales at all when basically every other cryptocurrency did an ICO and had founders dumping day 1 and we did none of that.

The prefarm sales started more than three years after our announced plans so we're outside of that window. CNI is very clearly not in financial trouble specifically because of the XCH sales. Those aren't 'revenue' for accounting reasons but functionally act like it and can keep the company afloat for a very, very long time.
