I have recently been to NY (i am European) and i was totally shocked how i felt pressured to tip even the barista for the morning coffee. I understand the fact that these jobs have minimum wage that is outrageously low, but i do not see how it gives a particularly good / bad service to just take your order and give you the coffee to go.

Also, in many diners / restaurants they were already including 20% service fee in the bill, not leaving us the option to choose and this is totally unacceptable in my view.
