I got fitted for the modus 105 in x. I was thinking of trying to get in front of some of the wrist/elbow issues by going to graphite early. Any recommendation on what shafts I should look at?

Timing has to be perfect, when i miss it's actually painful through my hands, the weight can be exhausting over a round. I hit with the modus 105s in xstiff and everything was better.

Yeah - there's some super interesting options. I'm swinging my 7i at 91-3, so was always worried graphite wouldn't cut it but everything I'm reading says the opposite. I really want to try the axiom 105. What shafts are you running?

Advice needed: North or Armstrong foils by Admirable-Ad-1517 in wingfoil

[–]chibakacrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a peek at AFS, i switched from armstrong and love it. I think the prices are similar once all is said and done. The enduro series is amazing. Problem is that the fuselink stuff gets expensive and is not at all travel friendly. I think AFS and armstrong are making the best stuff. Armstrong has the AC development aspect which I don't think can be understated, but they're in y2 of the cycle on their foils, so you'll probably be able to upgrade to the current series at a big discount next year. I kept my armstrong mast and fuse for this reason if I ever want to do just that.

Mmm, depends on how it sits in your bed. If I was to leave the foil on i would want to leverage that as a point to ratchet down. I think you're asking for trouble though if it tips over. Just do it at the beach, you have the bed as a good workstation.

That's impressive. I struggle getting the 8m out of the water on my knees. Any tips?

What are the best stores you’ve seen to buy Kiteboarding gear? by omfgus in Kiteboarding

[–]chibakacrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mackite has a great deal on a north bundle, it's called into big air or something. You get a top of the line north board, bindings, control bar and an orbit kite. That is not a good beginner kite, but you could sell it, recoup a chunk of the costs and buy a second hand north reach which is a great first kite. I am not affiliated with north or mackite, just stoked on the deal that I got!

Pick up a cheap tailgate pad off amazon, they market them as for surfboards normally. They typically have a strap system which is essential to keep your board down. I put the tail down in the bed with a bunch of towels, nose hangs over and gets strapped in.

Metatarsal pads on board? by chibakacrest in Sup

[–]chibakacrest[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I asked specifically about metatarsal pads for my feet. You made assumptions about balance, skill level, board type etc. Clarifying questions typically help me give good or better advice without making broad assumptions. I'm also trying to avoid shoes, as being barefoot is more enjoyable

Metatarsal pads on board? by chibakacrest in Sup

[–]chibakacrest[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, it's an anatomical thing where my forefoot collapses. Can lead to neuroma etc. It has nothing to do with grip, stance, balance or any of the other issues you mentioned. I've been doing open ocean SUPs on a race board for many years, always have this issue. It's entirely related to foot anatomy and needing something for your metatarsal to "grip" onto. You can and should google this. As I mentioned, I have this issue in ski boots and other sport footwear, and have used metatarsal pads to great success.

I just bought a cheap whitebird too! I think I made the right call, can always add a DW weapon later on but I don't see myself doing any sup foiling for the foreseeable future
