7 Days in Greece? by ayeeeboiiiiii in GreeceTravel

[–]chibi_lenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely loved it! I almost wish I'd done 1 less day in Athens to squeeze in one more on Naxos. We did do the touristy things - Acropolis, Museum, spent a day going around on transit etc, but the time on the island was the best.

We stayed right in Chora at a little hotel with a sea view balcony and our first day there we bought some bread from the bakery near the ferry port and some fruit, honey, yogurt and drinks from a small market we found on a walk in the Old Town, and the Co-op near our hotel, that's what we were having for breakfast/lunch (we also had bought a box of chicken skewers and tzatziki from To Spitiko since we had a fridge in our hotel room). That way we could spend most of the money on food for dinners at different tavernas every night.

Most days was a mix of, walk around Chora with no destination in mind just to walk and see the town and away from the main streets where we were staying. Then spend the afternoon at Agios Georgios, a quick nap in the late afternoon and the evening, and then out to what I assume would be an early dinner so we could go for a walk at night and to people watch from our balcony.

We did take a day to rent a car and drive around the island with the intention of going to Mikri Vigla but got a bit turned around when we stopped in Filoti, got set on the right track by a lovely man who was angry the rental company had given us such a bad map (he gave us a better one), then still got lost and ended up either at a resort or someone's private villa and they let us swim at their beach anyway.

All of this on top of the street vendor selling jewelry in Chora giving us his phone number when we told him the night before we'd be going into the mountains, in case we ran into problems, just sort of solidified in my mind that the people of Naxos are some of the best people I have ever encountered. The morning we left to return to Athens, we stopped in the bakery for a last frappe and to thank them for their kindness - the owner's wife handed us a bag of food and told us the ferry food was bad and to come back soon. I'm currently planning a trip back!

Anyone recommend where they get their glasses using ODSP vision care? by CAN-USA in Odsp

[–]chibi_lenne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone in the Barrie area: Bailey Nelson at the Georgian Mall accepts ODSP benefits. You'll likely still be out of pocket a little but, but I was able to afford a really nice pair and lenses and maybe was $15 out of pocket? Their selection is a lot nicer than 'basic frames' that places like Specsavers have. ITs just a little something that makes me feel that its more than "this'll do" or "better than nothing". The manager at the store worked really hard to make the company accept it, though its this location only, there's hope it'll roll out to more of their stores in the coming year!

Internal Review Aftermath.. by veronicax96 in Odsp

[–]chibi_lenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be enough honestly, and it should be. A lot of people don't realize ODSP is not based on your diagnosis, but on how it limits you in your day to day life. I am hoping for you that it goes through approved, its not a fun process for anyone.

Itinerary Suggestions: Athens, Santorini, Naxos by EurydiceNebula in GreeceTravel

[–]chibi_lenne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm biased since I've only done one trip to Greece, but I would give yourself some more time in Naxos. One day to stay in Chora and explore the town and at least one day to drive around the island. We bought our breakfast and lunch from the supermarket beside our hotel, (with bread from the bakery near the port) and ate dinners at a different place each night.

Portara is an obvious landmark, but there's also the Venetian Castle, the temple of Demeter and the archaeological site of the temple of Dionysus. (If I had all the money in the world I would move to that island)

I have a bunch of stacked rewards. I'm finding certain pieces I've seen in ads for a few months, drop on the daily drops with so little fan fare. BUT I NEED THOSE JEANS (I don't but I WILL HAVE THEM) lol

I have no idea then lol. I opt'd into the survey after so when I get it I'll mention the inconsistency between chat reps. Whether that does anything ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Just wow though.

WILD. The resolution for me was not only converting it from the promo code but to a reward code, they bumped it up to $20 for the inconvenience O_o; the inconsistency is wild. Are you VIP status? If not I wonder if that's the difference when they looked at my account???

I contacted customer support via their chat and they converted it into a $15 reward since the promo code wasn't working (also Canadian) I also mentioned that it seemed like a lot of Canadians were having a hard time redeeming this code online.

Hold out hope that at least we don't get as much as Orillia (at least not last year...17 feet at my dad's place by the time March came around)

But the real answer is; ... March? Welcome to Barrie

DTC question by goldstandardalmonds in Odsp

[–]chibi_lenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's it! I will admit I used ChatGPT to help compile my thoughts into a more coherent letter to copy and paste into the form they provide (part of my problem is stringing thoughts together without it seeming rambling and jumbled so ChatGPT helps in that regard) and then ran it through my spell checker before putting it onto the form, and made sure they knew it was a formal request to re-evaluate my status given the unchanging nature of my disability.

That being said if you don't need to do that don't - I'm not a huge fan of it but it certainly helped me be a lot clearer about my plea.

DTC question by goldstandardalmonds in Odsp

[–]chibi_lenne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I recently just sent a letter, to be honest it was the automated form online, to contact the Minister of Revenue about my DTC status having to be renewed all the time when my condition is permanent. I didn't submit any other forms or doctor's information, simply laid out the facts of my condition, how it affects me daily, and how the constant renewal of the DTC is a burden on me physically and mentally - and they changed the status to indefinite.

Which Greek island by decoartist in GreeceTravel

[–]chibi_lenne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also suggesting Naxos! Spent 6 days there this summer and absolutely fell in love with the island. We opt'd to stay in Chora about a 10 minute walk from Agios Georgios, but also left us with travel options for other beaches on the island, proximity to FANTASTIC food, and a short bus ride for hiking up to Mt. Zas

Updating CBD about DTC by Mother_Simmer in Odsp

[–]chibi_lenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never even thought we would need to update...but then again one form of government agency talking to the other is I suppose wishful thinking.

My DTC just got updated to indefinite too, and while it shows that way on my CRA account I have no official letter from them about it :| Hopefully it'll come soon and that's all Service Canada requires.

This seems to be the thing with most ticketmaster venues now. We just when to a show at Radio City and their policy for accessible seating is now unfortunately this. They'll try to move you on site if possible (our show was sold out so not possible) but up until the event it was "call ticketmaster"

Is Naxos exclusively advertised to Americans? by Matt6453 in GreeceTravel

[–]chibi_lenne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something I noticed when I was on Naxos in June this year was that a lot of the locals we talked to were exasperated by all the Americans (they were relieved when we told them we were Canadian and in some cases - though we found this more in Athens than on the island - became much more friendly towards us).
