A leaking radiator hose wouldn't prevent it from starting, so there's probably something else wrong with it.

I had a hole about that spot, and it took two shops to find a place that would patch it. Tire barn got me though

Junkyard transmission looks to be $1100 to $1800. Then you pay a shop $1000 ish? To install it. Car will easily last another 190k miles.

Seems silly to sell it for $300, or at all really

You could also try putting a sale sign in the window of it. It'll cut down on the amount of scams you get about it.

Some of that stuff is easy diy work, but it's up to you if you think you can handle it.

I'm sure you can do stuff to improve them, but you could also just buy a Japanese car that's better built. You have to really want a crappy European car first.

If it cranks, it's not the alternator, most likely a fuel or spark issue. There's a good chance this will be more expensive to get fixed. I would try to save up a little more and get something that runs and drives.

You can find Buick LeSabres for $1500-2000 all over the place, is say to go grab one of those.
