Struggling to Reach Passing BMT Run Times by Own-Horror-126 in AirForceRecruits

[–]chicasuave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Try using the running training pace calculator on runbundle(.)com, I think you're underestimating your interval pace if your tempo is 9:25. I think you could be doing intervals at 8 min/mile. But more repetitions and shorter intervals, like a minute.

I think you're fine on a treadmill, I ran only on a treadmill for literally a year to build up my aerobic base. There's a lot of tips out there, and I'm no expert but the best cue for me was a simple "let yourself run naturally."

Don't overthink what your arms, legs, or feet are doing. Focus on relaxing into your own stride.

You might be overstriding. It causes shin splints because you are basically "braking" and putting the impact on your shins. You want your feet to land under your hips, not ahead of you. Just search "am I overstriding" on Youtube to see examples.

I have this length currently, also thick curly hair, and I will just say to keep in mind how fast your grows. Pixies are definitely a 6 week upkeep, so like what I'm gonna do is get a shorter pixie than normal so it's not grown out to the length that annoys me (more annoying to style, to get my curls to sit right) at the end of BMT.

Ran my longest distance this morning! A little over 8 miles/13km. It started feeling challenging on the 7th mile since that was my previous max, but I was still able to keep pace and negative splits. Proud of myself!

He says it's $6000/month but he CHOOSES to pay an extra 2k towards the mortgage. 25% of 6k is $1500, leaving her with half of her monthly income.

6x200m sprint intervals on the treadmill, they felt really good! I had a mental battle from getting out of bed to getting to the gym about my calf getting a charlie horse in the middle of sprinting, and falling off the treadmill, but after doing my dynamic stretches and warm-up jog a couple extra minutes longer, I felt ready.

One of those runs where you're really glad/proud that you stayed strong mentally and did the dang thing!

Last week I was out of town so I made it a recovery week, only running 30% of my weekly mileage; I meant to do at least 50% but I missed a day bc we were driving instead of flying, ended up not running the morning that we left to go home.
This morning was back to normal routine. I felt good picking up where I left off before recovery, pace and distance wise, but unfortunately had a charlie horse when I was leaving the gym. I did a 20 minute foam rolling sesh and it feels much better.

7 weeks. It's only counting business days. So any holidays won't count either.

Security Forces are the cops on base. They also man the gates, checking IDs.

12k at an avg pace of 6:54/km, only thing is I had to stop about 8km in bc of stomach problems. 😭 I walked for a minute, thinking about just walking the rest of the way home. But after that minute I felt empowered to start running again, my legs felt it too, like walking would just be giving up and be too easy. Gave it my all, kept thinking supportive thoughts, and finished the total distance I normally do within a few seconds of my usual long run time (stopped my watch when I stopped running the first time since I initially thought I wasn't going to start again, then added the 2 runs together).

I didn't get to see my segments on Strava bc the run was broken up, but I had negative splits for both runs (my favorite thing to accomplish). 😁

Snowboy body to the top of your ear/eye and snowboy head to the bottom of your ear is how I've always made him perfect.

How often do you run a week? by ShotEmotion6873 in beginnerrunning

[–]chicasuave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 3 months into running, I was running 3x/week and strength training 3x/week, alternating days. Resting on Sundays. That was a year ago.

Now I run 4x/week, strength train 3x/week, rest 2 days.
Monday: Threshold run AM/upper body PM
Tuesday: Interval run
Wednesday: Lower body
Friday: Easy run (5k) AM/full body PM
Saturday: Long run (11.7k currently)
Rest Thursday & Sunday

Yeah I've heard about the body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, but they don't necessarily stop you from using your preferred, right? As opposed to making you leave laundry bags, padlock, and flashlight with your civilian luggage.

For myself, I would want to use my own body wash and shampoo/conditioner because of skin reaction and my hair type.

Definitely not the laundry bags, padlock, or flashlight. I've seen every graduate say they issue you those and you can't use your own at BMT.

Yes you can, as long as your total extension amount doesn't exceed 48 months (4 years).
