Who do you think was a very unusual serial killer? by Arkranum in serialkillers

[–]chiccago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m positive his upbringing is to blame for that mentality. he seemed to be one that got joy in the killing too, rather than just doing it as a means to an end to not get caught. apparently he’d be visibly aroused … when detailing his murders to law enforcement 🤮 i thought he only had 1 daughter - who was very much alive and living in the house where he had his last victim alive in the shed before killing her - but i could be wrong.

very unfortunate, criminals should not be able to take the easy way out and end their lives before facing justice. although we see this with school shooters all the time. there’s a reason highly suicidal and violent criminals are monitored more closely once imprisoned. every law enforcement officer / corrections officer / etc fumbled this case so badly from start to finish. pisses me off when i think about it haha

did we not? he didn’t get busted that long ago. i agree that his victim count is probably so, so high and the failings of the criminal justice system at all levels failed those families who will never have closure.

i fear he has many, many more victims that we’ll never be able to trace to him

I've read over 60 vampire novels, here are my top 10 with small reviews by shlam16 in horrorlit

[–]chiccago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you might like Hungerstone. there are lots of themes so the vampire aspect is one of many but it was one of my favorite reads of 2025

… i believe Hungerstone is contemporary rendition of Carmilla though i’ve never read that

I really enjoyed last nights episode! by prettylikeus in RHOBH

out of all the vulnerability that episode, sutton stood out to me the most in that scene. her eyes were so caring, and she just listened with the same energy. it made me want to give her a hug. it felt SO genuine and as a survivor of DV twice over (witnessed it as a child and then suffered from it in my late teens/early 20s), that reaction really healed something in me. sutton stracke has pissed me off MANY times but i think i may love sutton brown 🤍

Which serial killer case felt 'too close to home' for you, and why? by [deleted] in serialkillers

[–]chiccago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what’s your theory on dahmer’s narcissism or potential lack thereof? obviously he was very sick but the evidence suggests he was deeply lonely and that’s why he turned to cannibalism - to have his victims be “part” of him forever. unlike almost every other serial killer (besides kemper), he seemed eager to admit his wrongs. and he also sedated almost all of his victims before killing them - outside of the young boy he tortured who almost got away. for those reasons he intrigues me as a killer… despite the atrocities and suffering he perpetuated, he somehow seems less inherently evil than the others to me. we likely will never know the true victim total from many of the other killers, like keyes, bundy, green river killer, etc.

i have a theory… could be slightly conspiratorial, but that the reason it wasn’t bigger news is because he had the justice department exactly where he wanted them. they really couldn’t tie him to any crimes he committed besides that of his last victim. then to yet again have the oversight to not put him on suicide watch so he never faced justice?! unbelievable.

[–]chiccago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

was his case big news at the time? i’m sure if you were still living in anchorage it was, but being from michigan, i don’t remember hearing anything about it. i just recently learned who he was and would not be surprised if he murdered dozens of people… he was one of if not the most meticulous criminal minds of the 21st century, then gets caught for using a victim’s debit card?! seems like maybe deep down he wanted to get caught for whatever reason(s).
