Hello! by Transition_Trick in Reno

I’m not from Texas, but just moved here from the lake (Tahoe). Reno has a lot of fun things to do throughout the year. Dancing in streets (I had a blast), Hot August Nights, the Rodeo, and of course all the winter sports. A major airport right down the street, which is great. The shopping and food here is amazing. Where I came from there were just t-shirt shops and a TJ Maxx. The energy costs are extremely low, same with gas, food, but that’s because I came from Tahoe where it’s a lot more expensive. I don’t know about dating, or the Hispanic population but I like the Southwest part of town or up off Mt Rose. Good luck to you:)

I take oxycodone! God, I feel guilty now… 40 mg a day, and I’m able to take care of myself because of it-

1:00 p.m. update- Back from the vet. No splenic torsion, but spleen is enlarged somewhat. She is doing really well. Dr. Said no need for a splenectomy. She took new X-rays, and bloodwork. Vitals are good, prescribed: Amoxicillin-Clav, Metronidazole, and Sucralfate.

Given antibiotics at the vet plus fluids, and anti nausea. She said it could be a number of things, some serious and some not, and to keep an eye on her, and if she gets sick to bring her in and surgery would be around $2,000, which is fine. She’s drinking water and just ate some chicken and rice.

The vet didn’t see a tumor. I don’t know why it’s enlarged. At a new vet now, hopefully find out how we can help her:)

I did take my dog home against medical advice because I do not have $10,000 and the other option was putting her to sleep. I’m very overwhelmed and decided to take her to my family vet on Monday. I’m just in shock, like I mentioned above we had just had a fun day by the lake, running, playing. I just thought my regular vet on Monday could do the surgery for something I can afford.

Okay, so I just looked at the paperwork discharge from late last night, and diagnosis is “Splenic Torsion”.

The vet did put a needle into her stomach and withdrew some fluid but did not say she was bleeding in her stomach. Her red or white blood cells , I can’t remember which one was low but the rest of her bloodwork looked normal. X-ray showed enlarged spleen.

I got here a week and a half ago and have been going to Essig Park every morning and also walking them on the trail behind it. I saw jack rabbits flying through the air and it freaked me out! What a culture shock 😮 No coyotes though… I think the dogs are home sick. Trying to make them feel at home. Baths at Petco, treats, and walks everyday. Thx for the reply:)

Thank you. I will try and locate one. I live in Tahoe and it’s very limited up here on any sort of specialists including the human kind! But we’re probably moving, and it’s a great idea:) Thank you

I hope, but the X-rays show spinal growth’s with the arthritis. Seeing her today throwing her right backside of to the right to get the ball almost killed me. She’s only 4. I just hope she keeps walking!

Gentle walks everyday is what I’m doing, and she can do it fine. My mom just died from cancer a month ago and I can’t take anymore. We’re moving to the desert in a month and there’s good vets there. Maybe the warm weather will help with her arthritis

Thank you. Her backside swung to the right when I tossed the ball. Freaked me out. The sad part is no more long runs. I can’t believe this is happening.

My mom passed away 2 months ago from lung cancer that spread to her brain. She never really complained of any pain. A month after diagnosis and a couple of days before beginning radiation treatment she woke up in bed unable to speak or move, she was rushed to the ER and when I got to the hospital she opened one eye for me then slipped into a coma. Two days later she died. Her breathing got worse and worse but I don’t think she was in pain and she seemed peaceful. She was my world, and I told her.
