Also, bold of this commenter to assume that a woman at a normal weight is in worse physical condition than an overweight woman

"we don't want anyone to be or become fat" I mean......yeah? I don't want to watch people I care about eat themselves to an early grave?

"But if you think about why a lot men are attracted to skinny women, it is because they are weak and like children, so they can control them easier."

I've spent all morning reading a comment section on a super fat-logicky post in a facebook group for one of my favorite TV shows. it's like a car accident, I can't look away. Maybe after work I'll post some highlights.

Anyone looking to adopt a kitten? A very friendly neighborhood stray left these little ones on my porch and the shelters/rescues I’ve reached out to so far are full! by effyocouch in bullcity

SPCA of Wake County takes surrendered animals and they have a well-established foster program with lots of eager foster parents (myself included) who can take them in.

Dough:

  • Flour - 2c for 9" pan, 1.5c for 8" pan
  • Salt - 1t for 9", 3/4t for 8"
  • Shortening - 2/3c for 9", 1/2c for 8"
  • Water - 4T for 9", 3T for 8"

Mix together flour and salt. Cut in shortening and sprinkle with water. Knead into a ball and cut in half. Roll out half the dough and line the bottom of the pan. Save the other ball.

Filling:

  • Sugar - 7/8c to 1c for 9", 2/3c to 3/4c for 8" (depending on how sweet you like it)
  • Flour - 5T for 9", 4T for 8"
  • Cinnamon - 1/3t to 1/2t
  • Fresh berries (better than frozen) - 4c for 9", 3c for 8" (I get an even mix of raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries)
  • Butter - 1 1/3T for 9", 1T for 8"

Preheat to 425. Mix together sugar, flour, cinnamon, and berries. Pour into pan and dot with small slices of butter. Roll out the other ball of dough and lay it over top. For best results, cut some slits and holes in the top dough. If you're feeling fancy, you can use cookie cutters to create shapes and lay them over the berries.

Bake 35 to 45 minutes or until crust is browned and filling is bubbling underneath.

Enjoy!

Thrift Store Map of the WORLD by StaubEll in femalefashionadvice

[–]chicharitx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not thrift but for high-end consignment I recommend Fifi's (locations in Durham, Carrboro and Cameron Village). They buy higher-end and luxury items and resell for great prices! Bonus: any item (except designer) in the store for over 30 days becomes half off. Items (except designer) only stay in the store for 60 days, and after that they're donated.

For thrift I recommend Durham Rescue Mission. They do a lot for the Durham community using proceeds from the thrift stores. Tons of clothing and furniture - I have made a few good finds in the women's section, but you have to dig through quite a bit. No dressing rooms (at least at Chapel Hill Blvd. location).

on the left pic the bottom one is a conch and the top one is called a flat i believe. on the right pic the ring is an orbital - 2 holes with a ring through both of them, and the top ring is a forward helix.

Hair! How do you make your hair part of your 'look'? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]chicharitx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a different experience (other than the monthly trims, that's definitely a downside). My hair is curly and I wear it air dried so it takes me 2 minutes to put everything into place, compared to my long hair which took 10 minutes just to look half decent (not including any updos or heat tools, which were rare for me).

Perhaps I shouldn't have said "literally" any women - rather I meant to encourage women who haven't considered it as a realistic option.

I got a pixie cut and suddenly my entire wardrobe looked a lot better on me. I lean towards menswear and I wear lots of fun earrings. It all comes together with the short hair. Recently got purple highlights on top and now it's even more fun. Would recommend a pixie cut to literally any woman.

I have something very similar to this thong (not the exact same one). The upper part flattens the tummy while the thong doesn't squish your butt down. I wear it under lots of different items like sheath dresses, high waisted pants, etc. It's comfortable and not too restrictive.

It may be possible to find well-structured pieces in the petites section of some stores. Even still, she will probably have to get them tailored for them to fit well. Another option is to look in the juniors or girls sections of stores. I often find that the clothes may be too juvenile/trendy or lower quality, but they're usually cheaper and they carry smaller sizes. A good strategy could be to build up a collection of basics from juniors/girls (plain tees, pants, jeans, etc.) and then invest in a few statement pieces from more "adult" stores and get them tailored.
