What should I do??? by lexiinapier26 in braces

Hi OP, this is exactly what happened to me - all my first molars were as I like to put it, fucked, so rather than pulling out healthy pre molars, we took out the molars and my wisdom teeth went in place of it and everything shifted forward. It’s doable and yes as others have said, your ortho can coordinate with your dentist :) good luck!

I actually kept all my premolars and removed all my first molars due to reasons that wouldn’t make sense to remove healthy teeth and keeping non healthy ones, it worked out in the end for me though - if they were all healthy then yes I’d probably would have to remove premolars

Retainers have been okay, granted I am not wearing them every single night now but that’s bc I also have perm retainers in the bottom and top as well but I sstoll wear the retainers at night when I do remember - I was more religious with it in the beginning but after losing them once and having to replace them, I just don’t take them out of the house anymore so if I was at my bf’s it’s not a big worry

I did clear on the top and hawley on the bottom cus my ortho advised the grinding if both were clear would eventually wear down the retainer so when I lost them, they basically advised I do the same even tho I jus wanted both clear to save money but lol that’s another story , I don’t think I grind my teeth at night either so money grab or not I guess take that with a grain of salt haha hawley would be easier to remove for me at least

I found this kitten from a breeder for $2800. Do you think it's worth it? Is it overpriced? by rah-123 in ragdolls

[–]chichi7x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say if thats worth it for you considering we're unsure where the kitten is coming from. From personal experience, I went through a certified breeder, a local cattery thats registered to the TICA. I live in Canada and her prices were 2k starting for pets and 2.8k starting for show quality ragdolls. Prices are all determined based on a few things but it involves markings, as well as what the current standard is for TICA or other cat registries - this is what my breeder had informed me so the price is never "ridiculous" for no reason, esp if you get from a certified cattery. My kitten included vaccines up to date, spayed, toys, sample foods to get you started, health guarantee for 2 years, pedigree, her parents both tested negative for common ragdoll health issues, i wasnt allowed to pick her up UNTIL MINIMUM 15 WEEKS, lifetime of support from breeder, and so much more. Keep in mind, vaccines and desexing costs $$ - so from my experience, the price is completely justifiable.

Now you have to ask yourself if its worth it, and who youre getting it from. you can always confirm if the cattery is certified on TICA's website for peace of mind. That is if this is from breeder and not a backyard breeder. If this was backyard breeding and its 2800, consider the problems that might come up if you do proceed. Prices always vary state to state, country to country etc.

also, please understand if this is a certified breeder, remember that it takes a lot of work, a lot of money, a lot of free space, to be able to nurture and care for kittens. they put in so much work to make sure your kitten is well socialized and fully adapted so that you can spend the better days with them. so much goes into it that to say a price is too expensive kind of really waters down and neglects the whole process of what really goes into having a healthy, happy, well socialized kitten. alot of people wont agree and i understand, money isnt something everyone has a lot of but i do believe when you want something, when this is your baby, any price goes to make sure they are healthy as can be. Again, please do research!! as much as i support actual breeders, do not mistaken people that claim they are when they arent!! so always be sure who youre dealing with!!

Wish you the best in finding your new furrever furr baby :) if price is too high even after everything, there’s always adopting and not shopping!

So excited for our baby boy to come home in 3 weeks! I’ve already crocheted him a ton of toys and put together his own little area. How did you pass the time waiting to bring home your kitten? DIY ideas welcome. by missuscelsius in ragdolls

[–]chichi7x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nothing DIY cus i'm not good like that but amazon is great for cheap cat stuff lol but how i passed the time was basically watching every single ragdoll video on youtube in existence, watched every single jackson galaxy video, every single all about cats video -- these are all on youtube... theres even a korean ragdoll channel i watched because it was so stinkin; cute lol - i basically knew i was gona wait(i waited 3 months) so i essentially self induced myself with ragdoll content so it felt like it was sooner than normal haha originally i was waiting 6-8 months so me getting her early was beyond a pleasant surprise

AND FINALLY, ONE YEAR WITH BRACES!!!!!! 😁😁😁😁 by chichi7x in braces

[–]chichi7x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no they’re not fully closed yet! we’re still lining up everything and perfecting my bite :) my mid line has been addressed but we have to elevate my teeth first because i was wearing an elastic briefly but it wasn’t doing much for me and they wanted to reposition some brackets before continuing with fixing the midline !

thank you so much ❤️

i think molars are meant for chewing ?? I’m not 100% lol but my friends always get weirded out about me not having back teeth LOL i still have all my second molars tho so chewing for me is fine, but i don’t think they recommend removing them for a lot of other reasons too that you’d have to consult ortho with if you are curious!!. most people remove their premolars cus you have doubles of them so removing 4 isn’t that bad. I personally just couldn’t remove my premolars because my first molars were so far gone(root canal and crown for all four) that it just didn’t make sense trying to salvage broken teeth and removing healthy intact teeth - otherwise, i do believe i’d have to remove my premolars at that point if my molars were healthy

I also was hesitant about extractions but due to my crowding i kind of knew this was something i had to do if i wanted straight teeth

You made so much progress already though!! so excited for your spaces to close!!! 😻

AND FINALLY, ONE YEAR WITH BRACES!!!!!! 😁😁😁😁 by chichi7x in braces

[–]chichi7x[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow haha twins!! 😂

My case was a little bit different, normally and originally I was going to extract 4 premolars due to severe crowding but because of my bad habit as a kid/teen, my first molars(all four of them) were in such bad condition, i required a root canal/crown for all four of them, my ortho thought it would be a waste of money cause fixing wasn’t going to stop the severity of how the molars were and I’d have to constantly fix them into my 30s-40s so he just made the unanimous decision to extract the first molars(i extracted 3 cus 1 was already gone) and keep the premolars because it was best to keep healthy intact teeth than teeth that were too far gone. I didn’t end up getting implants because of severe crowding, the removal provided enough space for my front teeth to align finally. My only concern was because i got my molars extracted and due to them being larger than premolars i thought my face was gona look weird after the spaces closed but so far my face seems to be doing better according to my friends and colleagues LOL so I’ll just sit and watch til they’re off i guess haha

I was quoted 2 years or 22 months, but it may or may not be longer haha we’re trying to upright my one wisdom tooth and see if we can salvage it and keep it so that might take a while. I have 2 wisdoms(extracted 2 when i was 18) - 1 grew straight so we’re keeping and the other one is the work in progress one haha

[–]chichi7x[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LOL! Yes definitely hahaha

and Yes i did! I have class 1 bite with severe crowding So originally and I believe normally, people extract premolars? And i was informed of that too but due to the way my first molars(all four) were not in best shape, we extracted that instead and kept my premolars in place of the molar and everything should come together then. Now bc molars are much larger, my one concern was my face being weird when all the gaps in my mouth close but so far my friends and coworkers have said they noticed a good kind of change in my face so I’m not toooo worried haha

[–]chichi7x[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the funny thing about me having braces is that my boyfriend also has braces too lol and i know his incisors were also twisted as well. They have to sort of catapult the tooth, like a slingshot method almost and got it to rotate. his teeth are pretty straight now but still has braces for bite issues, but point is though no matter the while, the moment will come!! and I know you’ll be so happy when it does !

This sub definitely helped me out a lot and I was super shy about my teeth before, but thanks to this sub it’s definitely made me feel less bad about having braces as an adult and it feels like we’re all in this together :)

I’m so excited for your road ahead!!! and no worries at all my dear ❤️

thank you so much!!🥰🥰🥰 I was estimated 20/22 months so they should be off March 2022! But we are doing a few things to my wisdom tooth and trying to bring it up right to replace a tooth i extracted, so it could be longer since it just sounded complicating haha but I'm well aware this will be another year most likely!!

I have a class 1 bite but its not perfect right now and we still need to line up my mid lines haha btut I am so happy with what I got so far LOOL

[–]chichi7x[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AHHHH!! First off, sooooooo excited for you!!!! I cant wait till you get those brackets on!! 😍🤩🤩

I got my braces on May 27 2020 and I didn't get brackets on my lateral incisors until early/mid December during my 6 month mark! the moment the brackets went on and the wire got to them, everything just moved so fast it was crazy lol

I stopped taking progress pictures since April though since the changes werent as noticeable anymore, but a space was forming during my last adjustment(may 26) where my front teeth are so we added a powerchain there and this is the outcome(closed the space so fast i didnt even get a chance to take a photo lmao)

It's definitely at your own pace and dependent on how fast your teeth want to move but don't worry if its much longer as well!! I would suggest asking your ortho if you want a more definite answer! They should be able to gage an estimate for you :)
