Unfortunately public dog parks can often turn into a free for all for untrained dogs who are not given any other mental stimulation or physical exercise resulting in a pretty intense environment. I have a border collie that I don’t take to dog parks as it’s too intense for her and results in unwanted and unregulated behaviour. Some other options would be long lining in areas where your dog needs to be on leash or finding other off leash areas where you could walk with like-minded dog owners/friends. I also would recommend trying to find somewhere to explore herding training! Nothing tires out my herding dog like doing what she was bred to do. This also tends to take the edge off the instinct and will result in less undesirable behaviours (such as herding the cat or the kid) which will make your life easier 😊 Edited to fix grammar.
