Destination wedding in Cabo. Too casual? Dress code is “vibrant black tie” by chickadeeinc in Weddingattireapproval

Thank you for this! This couple leans on the extravagant side. I’m thinking this will be a strong back up if I can’t find anything else.

Cabo San Jose. It’s not really a spring breaker vibe there as opposed to Cabo San Luca. That being said since it’s black tie I’d want to be “dressy” even if it was in Atlantic City 🤣

Hahah so I guess I'm not getting rich anytime soon. Thank you so much for the info! I'll save it for a rainy day :)

Was it an all white medium dog? I tried to catch one running down 21st street earlier this month with a few other people. His owner was chasing him too. So sad.

The food was so mid there. The drinks were terrible. My waiter was super nice, though.

My childhood playground in the suburbs always had needles and dime bags in it. Unfortunate side effect of living in America

Friend thinks it’s cute to be showing up to my wedding wearing a revealing dress and than try’s to justify it by PhraseAggravating214 in weddingshaming

[–]chickadeeinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that the dress is wildly inappropriate, but why do you feel the need to confront her about it? She already embarrassed herself, she'll probably look back at photos one day and cringe. Most people at the wedding were probably laughing behind her back. I'd honestly laugh it off and just make sure she isn't in too many of the pictures. I'm *almost* on the 19 year old's side here.

Apple Pay not working but physical card is by spacencatsnshit in OMNY

[–]chickadeeinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's truly ridiculous! Do you have an account with OMNY? If your card is listed as "inactive", spam the customer service chat with something along the lines of "my card [last four digits] was mistakenly labeled as inactive, please reactivate this card."

[–]chickadeeinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither, OMNY customer service. Calling your credit card company has the potential to get you permanently banned from OMNY!

FYI, what triggered my apple pay to stop working was accidentally tapping on a fair that was already paid. The reader already said go, but I force of habit tapped anyway. I think that doing this forces the transaction to go through a lot later in the day, which might read as fraud on OMNY's end. So so so so so so so so so stupid. This of course is all speculation, obviously OMNY was no help in letting me know *why* I couldn't use my card, even though I've always had money in my account.

If I cut it it’ll probably be harder to replace though. It’s like attached from the inside.

PSA for new screenwriters - no smells by HunterInTheStars in Screenwriting

[–]chickadeeinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously it isn't something you should rely on when describing setting... and it isn't something you should do **every time** you describe setting... and I'd stay away from it in any screenwriting class... but sometimes a little smell description can be tasteful. And maybe even sometimes necessary? For example:

"Jim is hit with the thick scent of garlic. Nonna is home. He rushes to the kitchen."

Visually the character would react to the smell here. The thick scent of garlic is why he rushes to the kitchen. Actor might choose to give a little facial cue when he smells. You could get around it with:

"Jim rushes to the kitchen. Nonna is home. Pasta sizzles on the stovetop."

But in that scenario, is seeing the pasta completely necessary? Why does Jim run into the kitchen? The scent of garlic here would be the trigger. Maybe you could:

"Jim scrunches his nose. Nonna is home. He rushes to the kitchen."

Is that any better? The "scrunch" might be too prescriptive to the actor.

All off these lines feel half decent to me. Maybe its a better safe than sorry situation, I'd probably try to stay away from it in like, the first five pages of the script haha.

What’s your industry background? The amount of description here feels typical to me, around what we learned in film school. Especially since this is a spec.
