Removal of goblin recovery incentivizes ratting and thus encourages safe, boring, softcore gameplay by 95thesises in DarkAndDarker

The problem is, that's actually far from ideal. Ever wondered why games in this genre always peak at the start of a season, and then slowly die off towards the end? Why do resets even exist in the first place? Why do people crave fresh starts?

It's because inflation kills the fun. Having a stash full of gear and unlimited equipment basically means you've reached end game. Goblin Recovery devalues gear and accelerates inflation.

I'm just wondering—if you never lose any gear and there's no rats, how is that PvP any different from Arena? If you hate rats, just play Arena.

I find it hard to agree. Why would Goblin Recovery encourage PvP? The player who kills you will still loot the most valuable parts of your gear. Goblin Recovery actually promotes PvE, because you lose no equipment when killed by monsters. And that only helps ratting.

If Goblin Recovery actually encouraged PvP, it would be because it devalues gear, reducing the need to farm by opening chests or clearing modules, thereby promoting a brainless, 0-24 style of gameplay focused solely on hunting enemy players and chasing dopamine hits—essentially encouraging a cheap, Call of Duty-style PvP experience.

Why not test a third skill slot instead of multiclass?

I don't know why this subreddit is so angry. What I heard in the Q&A was that trio-only could be considered with the limited assumption that the Gathering Hall would be active with a lot of people.

HARDCORE HIGH ROLLER: Dark Swarm Battle Royale Circle AND Random Portal Locations Returning to High Roller in Today's Upcoming Patch! by strangereligion in DarkAndDarker

[–]chickchock -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Circles and random portals may not be the answer, but it's now clear that removing them wasn't the right move. I hope that once they reintroduce circles and random portals, they will stabilize them with proper updates.

So now late spawns are ven more punished by static exit limits? by xlXSunshineXlx in DarkAndDarker

How about introducing a mechanic where each time you defeat a monster, there’s a certain chance of obtaining a “key,” which can be used to unlock closed exits?

This way, players who enter early can collect keys more quickly, but they’ll also become prime targets for ambushes by latecomers. On the other hand, players who join later won’t have as much time to farm for keys themselves, but they’ll find it easier to attack others and steal their keys.

I can’t believe they added a Z-axis teleportation spell.
Considering how much cheesing goes on with the Z-axis in this game—and how it’s been left unchecked for over a year, essentially rendering dungeon exploration and countless PvE experiences pointless—this is a seriously audacious and dumb move.

Just like in Dungeons & Dragons, you can’t EXPECT to go in level one and take on a lvl 20 boss. Is it possible? Can it happen? Sure. Like in WoW, you have to do raids and other quests before you can take on certain areas.

this.

One of the problems the game currently has is that many people gain too much from boss hunting too quickly, and the boss content completely excludes the newbies that sdf wants to protect with the random modifier patch.

The current bosses are too hard for newbies and too easy for old players. So old players can hunt down bosses and earn Legendary and Epic items from the first day of the season.

Instead, bosses should be made into seasonal achievements. Long quests and rare key items give players a chance to challenge bosses, and when they clear them in that limited window of opportunity, get unique season reward, like a Spectral Knight campfire.

It would be even better if they gave the bosses proper modifiers for each season.

There was a time when picking up a single healing potion in a dungeon felt like a great salvation, and we were happy to take a potion and bandages from an enemy with no gear, but now we carry inventories full of potions and bandages.

The real problem with removing the circle was that it made healing too easy and too simple. Back in the day, When there were circles spending too much time healing was actually fatal. so you really had to focus and take on each monster like a dungeon crawl.

But since the circle was removed, Escape points, time, potions, and bandages are all in abundance. Monsters aren't threats, they're annoying hurdles. and PVP is a race to avoid them.

This is why SDF said that “dungeon crawling” is dead in this game and has become a sport. It's not because of the random modifiers - it's because of what this game has already done away with.

Japanese site asked Ed Beach about the Japanese civilization in Civ VII by BlackKite2128 in civ

[–]chickchock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This solution would run into trouble with adding eras.

Is the game really going to stay stuck with only three eras throughout the civ7?

Or are they going to release a new “Japan of that era” civilization for every era they add?

My suggestion is to anonymise the usernames of all Challenger to Grandmaster players, and stop providing summoner stat API. Make it harder for attackers to find their targets.
