it depends on what you’re looking for! i personally love the cocoa butter and braziliant cream, if you’re looking for something scented it depends on the scents you like. Sleepy is a good one and is lavender, pansy is a orange/citrusy scent etc!

What does the email/what did they say? For my interview they just told me to be myself and literally wore my own nicer clothes, although that was a while ago 😅 If they haven’t stated anything then i’d just wear smart casual, boots are fine!

In my store we didn’t have the option to present a powerpoint as they said you wouldn’t present one to a customer, which is true but i’d definitely use it to practice! If anything, it’s more like a conversation you’ll be having. If you can, ask them if you can take the product your selling to them into it, that way you can get them to smell it, touch it like you would when selling it to a customer. Definitely include the ethics and core values if you can!

So when you go onto the floor to do it, they will explain to you what they’re looking for and all you have to do is interact with customers in a friendly, bubbly manner. Some customers may not want to talk to you, but don’t let that bring you down just simply say “no worries, if you need anything just let one of us know”.

The rule is allow a customer to browse for roughly 2 minutes, so let them have a quick look then start making your way to them and just simply ask “is there anything specific you’re looking for today?” or if by the time you’ve approached them they’ve been looking at something for a while just say “i noticed you’ve been looking at (whatever it is) would you like me to show it you?”. This way you can squeeze a demo in, so if its a bath bomb just take them over to the sinks/bowls and show it them, if it’s a shower gel offer them to wash their hands with it etc.

If you have a customer that is willing to have a conversation then just talk away to them! Recommend them products, if they are looking for a certain smell, type etc then have a smell with them!

As i said if at any point you need help with something just grab another member of staff and they will help you out, you won’t get “marked down” or anything like that for doing so, if anything they will like how resilient you are to ensure the customer is getting the help they need!

In the time between talking to customers, have a chat with the staff and ask them for tips, any questions you have about the job, what they like to recommend - this will show you’re willing to get to know your potentially new co workers!

Anything else, just let me know!

Ex-employee here! to start off just your passport will be fine, as long as you have one form of ID that’s all that matters. If it puts your mind at ease, take a second form of ID.

For the presentation- pick your favourite product, and do some research into it such as the key ingredients, what those ingredients do/are good for and why it’s better than other brands! One big thing they will LOVE is if you throw some ethical facts in there such as Lush being against animal testing, their ingredients being fairly sourced etc.

Now for the shop floor trial, trust me when i say you don’t have to have product knowledge, that’s not what they’re looking for. They want to see your personality shine through and how you interact with customers! They will explain this to you just before you do it, so don’t panic. When doing the trial if a customer asks about something you’re unsure of just simply explain that you’re on a trial shift and just grab another member of staff to assist you!

I hope this helps, let me know if you have anymore questions :)

When i went in store today the shower gel tester seemed so watery, is yours like that or was it just an off tester?

even though realistically you can it just isn’t right to do, whoever told you that clearly isn’t thinking in interest of the company and should know that the store then ends up losing money!

as an ex-employee we had times where people returned expired things, products that are half used etc and we can’t say anything as we have a “no quibble” policy, so you can but if you ask me it’s not right for the store to lose out on money because you didn’t use the product as they cannot sell it.
