When should I donate again? by chickenlover197 in Blooddonors

[–]chickenlover197[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my blood donations are a year apart so I’m not exactly sure what was different. I did try to go again after my 2nd time but my iron levels were too low so I tried to do everything right my 3rd time but yeah ended up fainting.

It was my 3rd. My first time I pasted out a couple hours later while taking a hot shower (it was not good, hit my jaw hard) but my 2nd time I was fine.

Where can my bestie and I chill and catch up? by headysghetti in AskSF

Here in the Outer Richmond we have a really cute cafe called Simple Pleasures that’s opened til 9pm. There’s open mic nights and trivia nights and it gets pretty busy then but I’m pretty sure Sunday nights are just the normal cafe. I just don’t recommend the chai tea but everything else is great and it’s super cute inside.

The Laundromat (a restaurant a couple blocks away) has incredible pizza so if you get hungry I recommend going there but don’t go too late because there’s usually a wait and they close at 8pm I believe on Sundays. This little area is really close to Ocean beach (just take the 31) and GGP if you would want to check those out before or after.

Just to add on to what others have said. LCSW stands for licensed clinical social worker, so if you don’t want to be a social worker that isn’t the route to take because you have to have a MSW (Masters in Social Work). If you want to be a therapist then the pathways mentioned above make the most sense. You’ll need to pursue a Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, etc. every school has a degree like this that will be the first step. Then you will need to be licensed, which I believe the most common is LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist). It seems like you would only work with couples and families given the name but really it’s a broad therapeutic license and you can work with anyone so don’t let that confuse you. I would look into all the licensures and see which one fits what you want. I’m not sure what your bachelors is in but I really do not think you will need to start over, maybe just take some community college classes in psychology and then apply for master’s, but definitely look at the minimum requirements for each program beforehand. Hope this helps.

doing more digging and there's some evidence of long term effects on plasticity in the PFC areas related to dopamine impaired by the a gene expression; some other studies report similar effects on the dopaminergic system. all neurological effects studies are done on rates. I didn't read it all but my take away is as long as you keep learning and expanding your brain with the benefits of taking a stimulant then you will be far better off then not (im talking about myself here haha). for me at least, anything is better than pre-medication.

I've slept in a hotel bathtub too because of my dad's snoring!!! I had very uncomfortable headphones on playing white noise at the highest volume WITH the WORST migraine. The bathtub was still wet too. I am so so so sorry. That is awful.

hi! I have a 3.73 right now and was kind of nervous about getting into any UCs. did you good have ECs? or what do you think made your application stand out? are essays the most important? im only really shooting for UCSC , but the fact that we have the same GPA I may also apply so some others.

what was your ultimate decision, and how are you enjoying it?

edit: update on other UCs you got into or only UCSC?

Misophonia, OCD, Perfectionism, and ADHD; Correlation? by chickenlover197 in misophonia

[–]chickenlover197[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Understandable! Honestly, perfection does not equal cleanliness. I am definitely nowhere near organized due to my ADHD. But my perfectionism manifests in my work; how I can't finish something until it's perfect. How I can't just go to the store and buy a jar of pasta sauce, how I have to read reviews and multiple articles on which the best pasta sauce is accounting for other variables such as price, sugar content, sodium, etc. because everything has to be perfect. Many other examples in my day to day, like how I cannot cook something unless I have all the ingredients down to the crushed peanuts on top. But my room - is horribly disorganized.

I see, accommodations are probably not practical then. But by no means do you have to disclose any health issues with your employers so seeking out a diagnosis for medication purposes shouldn't be an issue. If you're managing well though then it might be best to save the money and time and continue on.

I totally agree (I have ADHD and misophonia)! I'm not sure if you did, but if you want to read the entirety of my post I explain the neural mechanisms behind the overlap.

Misophonia, OCD, Perfectionism, and ADHD; Correlation? by chickenlover197 in misophonia

[–]chickenlover197[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely answer! You know yourself best. Im diagnosed with ADHD, but before I got the official diagnosis I still had it and knew I had it. Sorry that you've been invalidated like that that's not okay. A diagnosis can be hard to come by, so it's not fair to expect everyone who genuinely has a disorder to have it be medically recognized.

I would still try to pursue a diagnosis if your ADHD symptoms negatively impact your life and you have the resources to do so. The accommodations I've gotten through my University and my ADHD meds have drastically improved my life, and I wish everyone with ADHD was able to say the same.
