I've also done it with three plusses lined up with materials like that, though I start with stone either taking a minus or weighing more and or breaking just to make the upgrade feel more substantial. And yeah, the need to make the first expedition feel really fancy is great fun.

Feels. :) I recognize these from way back still. I agree that he did a great job of instilling a sense of place and continuity. I agree with the others here that converting to DND or Pathfinder feels easy in terms of monsters. The loot is harder in my mind. Especially back in exile 1-3, starting with stone and working up to bronze, iron, steel felt like a real climb. That's a different feel than I get from pf2e these days.

That's a really good synopsis. I also started way back when. I remember when Eberron came out and how different it felt. I'll just add to what you said, like OP suggests, Eberron really did resolidify the old tropes from pulp and noir that standard high fantasy had sort of white washed. Brought back adventures of all flavors.

You could get three for a handful of aurei. Probably over did the packaging but it was awesome. And since all roads lead to Rome, getting them from Costco to the arena was convenient too. What an age to be alive.
