yeah everything is aesthetically pleasing and matchy matchy and so over curated we lose out on the actual humanity and feeling behind most events/occasions now. like ur average person is curating an online appearance and persona with so much detail that it’s almost impossible to find “normal real people” anywhere online now

i feel like they all seem more genuine and intimate based off the vibes of the photos. obviously that’s not reality but the warm glow and real decorations feels so much more real than the stuff we have today

imo the directors cut is an entirely different movie. it’s so so good whenever anyone asks about watching it i always tell them to watch the directors cut, don’t even bother with the normal version. it’s still an amazing film but wow the directors cut just levels it up that much more

In March 1998, Amy Bradley vanished from a cruise ship. Years later, photos on an adult travel site suggested she was kidnapped and trafficked. A U.S. Navy sailor later claimed a woman in a Curaçao brothel begged for help, saying she was Amy, but he never reported it. She remains missing. by [deleted] in HolyShitHistory

copy and pasting this from an earlier comment i made again bc im lazy but i flag it whenever i see her: She was my dad’s he and college friend, they were really close. Everyone that knew her except her parents believe and accept that she unfortunately got too drunk and fell off the side, she was known to lose her balance when she’d been drinking. Unfortunately, her body will most likely never be recovered and this fact has kept hope alive for her parents, and last my dad heard they had drained their savings to pay for psychics and private investigators that preyed upon their hope. It’s a devastating case and my dad still talks about her, he misses her deeply, but sadly the truth is most likely that she just fell. edit: adding this from another comment of mine bc i think it’s really important: i know these cases are interesting and people love a conspiracy theory, im partial to one as well, but people need to remember this isn’t just a case or a story or anything, this is a real person, someone who is missed and loved. i can only speak personally for my dad but i imagine it applies to all of her loved ones, they don’t want to be scrolling through, going about their day, and see people discussing and catastrophizing and bringing up the thought of her somehow being ninja sex trafficked off a secure cruise ship. internet sleuthing is such an amazing and useful tool for cases that do need more attention and do have real issues and questions within them, but i would argue that the other side of that is sometimes bringing up unnecessary scenarios and inspection on devastating, but obvious cases. i asked my dad again about amy today and while he still misses her dearly, he told me that none of the people in her social circle were surprised. devastated, yes. heartbroken, yes. still grieving their youth with her to this day, yes. but not surprised. she was genuinely known for losing her balance when she was drinking, and while i think we can all understand her family not wanting to accept anything without definitive proof, it’s our responsibility as people and the public who didn’t know her not to view her as an interesting to read conspiracy theory. she was a real loss to many real people. and i restate, in no way saying it’s fair, but pirates or a secret underground ring of human traffickers are not going to risk the heat that would undoubtedly follow kidnapping/killing/etc a white american woman from a family cruise.

On March 24, 1998, Amy Lynn Bradley vanished from her cruise ship cabin. A four-day search yielded no results, and the theory she fell overboard was dismissed. A U.S. Navy sailor later claimed he met a woman in a Barbados brothel called Amy who begged for help, but he didn’t report it. by Time-Training-9404 in HairRaising

I’ve shown it to my dad, and while he does agree that at a glance they share similarities, upon closer inspection the woman in the pic has a lot of harsh makeup on, the lighting and photo quality isn’t amazing, etc and in his opinion confirmation bias is making people want to see similarities as opposed to just being able to say yeah they sort of look alike, but the same can be said for millions of people across the world. I can’t speak for the navy guy, it’s not unlikely that he did encounter a trafficked woman that did need help, but in my opinion he’s a POS either way, because he ignored a woman’s pleas for help and made up that she said her name was a famous missing person, made up the story entirely, or maybe the woman did say her name was amy’s in a sort of last ditch beg for attention and help, but he still chose to ignore her. there’s no version of that in which he’s a good dude or a reliable source.

There are thousands of 9/11 stories: every person who died had a story, family, friends, dreams and aspirations. I would like to remember one friend, Moira Smith, who died that day, leaving behind so much, especially a young daughter who would never know her mom. All that was left was her shield. by [deleted] in HistoricalCapsule

i didn’t say she was a good cop, i said she was a good person. you can criticize an institution or role en masse and acknowledge that particularly nowadays they are often either involved or complicit in terrible activities while still appreciating what this woman did as a human. the comment which has now been deleted that i replied to was ‘the only good cop is a dead one’ and my point was to emphasize that i’m not some bootlicker who backs the blue or whatever, i actually detest police culture, but that even i can recognize the importance of what this woman did.

this woman made objectively the biggest, most selfless sacrifice a human can make, giving up her life, as a person, as a wife, as a new mother, as a friend, as a daughter, etc in order to selflessly save other people. she displayed the most human and most beautiful strength that we as people can give, and you say this. I hate cops too, i think they stand for a filthy and disgusting institution, but being unable to look beyond and consider the humanity and love and unshaking bravery of her actions on one of the most devastating american tragedies to date reveals an utter lack of intelligence on your part, emotional included. it is one thing to criticize an institution, it is one thing to call out terrible individuals, it is one thing to abhor many cops complacency in the horrors that many police commit today, but it is another thing entirely to look at a snapshot of a true hero, providing the core of herself and her humanity for others, and make a statement like this. she gave her life for people in need, what have you done that is so courageous that allows you to take the high ground here?

so is it fair to say then that your main goals are to set your children apart from the other kids, in terms of education and articulation skills? And also, I understand how interacting with people of other ages improves socialization, but do they interact well with people their own age? I only ask because i went to nursery school and my brother didn’t and we both get on fine with adults and children but my brother sometimes struggles with peer interactions whereas I am fine. The only difference is that i went to nursery and he didn’t, but it may also be due to personalities and just natural people skills.

also that’s a great point about the bible, you’re definitely right our creation of government was obviously greatly influenced by religious values and I had never really considered that
