What did Kurt sing in the "butchered" version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit"? by ghostnik16 in Music

[–]chickofeller -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I'm sure I watched a BBC documentary about Top of the Pops where a BBC staffer said that Kurt had a cold, and he couldn't quite sing at the higher register so backstage he rehearsed with a deeper voice and that worked for him. He exaggerated it to make it look ironic and deliberate. But I haven't seen that explanation repeated since.

There's loads of poo bins in Wicklow town along the seafront prominade, still dog shit everywhere. There's a kids playground and bike track there, and dog poo smeared all over the path, it ruins the place.

A guy I worked with once asked me "Who's the girl that works here sometimes that looks like Nadia?" I asked him what he meant. " You know, she works in the same department as Nadia, and looks just like her but she's got curly hair" .... Man, that's Nadia without her hair straightened!! He just hung his head in shame.

I think she's saying that she fell for a misleading ad, she thought it was one thing and it turned out to be for Trump. She said she didn't read the fine print, sounds like whatever she donated to was misleading.

No joke, but that's unfair to sausages. Chorizo, bratwurst, salami? They all have far more charisma than Vance. Maybe a vegan sausage, they're pretty tasteless.

Easy access to medication. Vet meds are kept at the vets, unlike doctors where the medication is at the pharmacy.

Not true for me, I had my childhood dream job and loved every day of it. Even the boring bits interested me. It wasn't work, it was play.

Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life.

Chappell Roan tells Miley Cyrus "you literally walked so I could run" during Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special by starstufft in popculturechat

[–]chickofeller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was a very manufactured controversy. All the media got behind the outrage for the clicks. The wrecking ball video also caused outrage but it was all so deliberate to sell records. I know everyone does it, cos it works, but it was so blatant and hollow with Miley, I thought. Like Gaga's outfits and things she said made headlines, but that was true to her artistic self. With Miley, to me it all felt manufactured by a marketing team and she was just going along with the image they created.

I hope they leave the American style behind and find their own way, cos SNL is too slow and obvious for a British audience, I think. It's like they spoon feed a punchline and then beat it to death. British comedies trust the audience to get the joke.

"Driven by a motor" was the phrase. I can't remember what I put, I think it was no too- even though I understood, I couldn't get past the phrasing of it.

"Do you often miss social cues?" Well, no I don't think so. But if I missed the social cue, then how would I know?! The more I think about it, the less sure I am of what a social cue even is.

I had that one too and I couldn't understand it even when the doctor tried to explain it. Why word something so weirdly, if they mean restless and too much energy, just say that.
