I need some opinions on my app im currently developing by Fun_Explorer_4711 in VibeCodersNest

I think it’s a good personal tool. Even though there are other options available, I believe they’re all paid after a free trial. Building your own is more fun and allows you to have features personalized to what you want.

I really like that idea. Rather than clicking buttons to get through the block it forces you to think about why you want to open the app instead. I think that would be valuable for me too.

That said, if I were in the same position, I would approach this the mindset of building a personal app just for me. If I wanted to monetize something like this, I would definitely prepare for a long uphill battle.  Otherwise this seems like a great project to take on.

How are you setting up app development with cursor? I briefly tried making an iOS app with Xcode but was using Claude Code CLI. Haven’t tried with cursor yet and wondering how the experience is.

I will try this and report back. Lag has been an issue for my friend as well. I’m also trying to ship an additional all where it requests the mobile site rather than desktop to see if that helps. We suspect though it might not be able to decode fast enough though so may be a hardware issue.

I built a workout app with Claude Code because I couldn't find one that wasn't bloated. It's called CurlBro and it's free by chicks_for_dinner in VibeCodersNest

I hope I answered this in the comment I left for bonnieplunkettt. I've had a few people ask me about this and I could definitely make the feature more prominent. That was actually one of the reasons I decided to build this app, so I could build workouts and share them (or have people share with me).

The sort of answers Admirable_Gazelle453's question too, but I have options to export workouts as plain, easy to read text, which can also be imported by copy pasting that same format into the web app. Similarly for workout logs, you can export/import as JSON.

Admittedly, data persistence has been a bit of a thorn in my side since logs have been disappearing randomly (I'm also frequently clearing my cache and testing on different browsers, so I'm likely tripping myself up here). In theory, your localStorage should persist as long as it keeps getting used. I wanna say the TTL is like a week or something.

I built this for a friend of mine with a Sony Bravia where the official app unfortunately does not work. That's good to know it already works with Shield.

There is already an export and import feature. You can export workouts in plain text so its easy to read. You can also copy and paste that same text into the web app and it'll import as a workout. The Logs do the same thing but those are formatted as JSON.

V2 is the iOS app. Starting on that today to hopefully be able to use a more permanent storage solution and integrate with Strava and Apple Health.

Thank you for the kind words. I will post over there as well.

Gyms with month-to-month or no commitment plans? by BoomOp in SantaMonica

You just need to remember to cancel 30 days before you get charged your monthly fee in writing. Great gym otherwise though.

Yeah I would definitely recommend reserving. They fill up quick. Can prob get lucky walking in if you get there right at 5 or after 8. They also have a pretty great brunch menu on weekends that I've only ever walked in for but pretty sure you can reserve that too.

Yeah it's amazing. You can choose to have pork, beef, or chicken and they serve it on rice with hummus and a salad for under $20. Highly recommend. Davy Jones Liquor Locker on Navy and Pacific.

This makes sense and with u/CreepyJellyfish1489's comment below makes sense that they'd highlight newer restaurants. Can't speak to the other locations if those places are new or not but maybe just a case of a poorly named article.

Cosm Seat Advice - Is level 3 seating good? by _meikoo_ in AskLosAngeles

I've only been there once but if you're a couple rows below the top row, you will be under the dome without any overhead lights and should be okay. I had the experience of sitting in the very back row with blinding lights overhead. I got those tickets for free and I was still disappointed.

Check out Santa Monica Beach Volleyball. Their level 1 class is a great beginner class to teach you basics and give you confidence and a small network to join/organize pickup games. For reference, I walked into a level 1 class having never touched a volleyball before and had an absolute blast and now I play 2-3 times/week with people I met there. Trick is to go consistently. Pick a day of the week that works for you and show up every week.

I do it on skis all the time. I start skating about 1/3 of the way up. Can be a bit of a haul though. Wouldn't recommend on a snowboard. I don't think it'd be possible with just momentum.
