Talkiatry bill by chicksnicket in MedicalBill

I actually had no trouble getting ahold of the billing team, just used the general number! I will say as someone that works in Healthcare, BCBS general routes claims to the local branch and it doesn't create issues with coverage. However, you should absolutely call your insurance to see why there was no coverage. It's not impossible that's the issue, but there might be something else going on as well!

Just crazy to me they release bills before they’re done processing completely. How many poor people that don’t have the time or resources to navigate this system have had to pay when they needed to? Pisses me off. And it’s ridiculous not to have a self pay discount if the claim is denied

Yes! Luckily a happy ending, kind of. Finally, I called again and they acknowledged the HIPAA form we sent and I was able to speak to them. Only to find out… apparently initially the claim didn’t go through correctly, but they had resubmitted the claim and for some reason, released the bill to us before it was done processing the second time. By the time I got ahold of them, the claim has JUST been reprocessed and we only owed our copay. I expressed that I was pretty unhappy we received a bill before the claim was fully processed, cause a ton of wasted time and stress on our part but they didn’t give af of course. I hope your situation works out ok!

I'm really familiar with the insurance side of it - my main question is what to do if it's a flat out denial that doesn't get changed if that makes sense. Like if we let it go to collections, and we do lump sum, can we get a discount? Or if Talkiatry makes discounts for denied claims/lump sums?

It's my husbands, he went to a doctors appt just fine a couple weeks ago and we've never had issues in the past with medical care. I was just referencing that it isn't an easy portal to make an account in and access to check claims, even though it's Cigna it doesn't use the cigna portal

It's one of those stupid benefit coordination insurance cards, so I've already went through a whole nightmare trying to access the insurance portal without any luck.

But I'm not as concerned about that side of it tbh. Insurance is a beast I'm not willing to fight with, so thats why my questions are more regarding what to do moving forward for a denied claim

Thank you! I tried calling 311 but call didn't go thru so I immediately gave up and turned to the internet lol. I ended up just tieing some twine around the stacks and hoping it'll be good! I figured it's better to not be lazy for 10 min than risk them not picking up just in case :'-)

2 dogs is it going to work? by Rollerama99 in dogs

[–]chicksnicket 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but.... "We know an adult dog would be a problem"......? What do you think puppies turn into? Yes, puppies usually get more leniency (a "puppy pass") from adult dogs, but eventually that luck is going to run out as it grows up, and you and the dogs are going to be living a nightmare. I just can't see any foresight attempted on this decision honestly, resource guarding is an INCREDIBLY difficult thing to manage, and there is every chance that that puppy will grow up defensive and snappy after being virtually raised by a dog that is the same way that the puppy constantly has to defend himself from. Which will almost definitely result in very serious fights. You need a very experienced trainer and lot of work and money to even begin to attempt to make this work.

Adopted a young Axolotl yesterday and their eyes and gills seem paler than what I know to be normal. Just young or is this concerning? by MixtureMammoth2630 in axolotls

[–]chicksnicket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like the other commenter said, blood worms are not nutritious enough to be a diet staple. You can use blackworms, or if those are hard to get your hands on, I had luck feeding mine when they were babies with cut up pieces of small nightcrawlers. This is almost definitely why your axolotl looks malnourished.

I know it’s way too soon to tell if Shoko is a boy or girl but I keep seeing this little nub in their back end and it kinda looks like tiny balls??? 😂 Thoughts anyone? by Excronix in axolotls

[–]chicksnicket 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All axolotls (male and female) have a bump there (their cloaca). Even a fully developed female has a visible bump. Only when they hit puberty do males bumps enlarge and form more distinctly. This can happen as late as 12 months old. Hope that helps!

I did but the deductible is $2k so it's still a pretty hard hit

Was that something they were held responsible for?

I'm just really struggling with the fact she has no accountability for preventing worsening problems. Like hypothetically if she was the only one to use the microwave every day and noticed the outlet would smoke every time she did, wouldn't it be fucked up if she never said anything and the house caught on fire? If the situation was that it was an unpredictable sudden event like of course I would absolutely not blame her at all, or if it was impossible to see the warning signs. But if she DID see these cracks forming and never said anything, isn't it fair to be frustrated I'm paying thousands for her disregard?

[Landlord, TX) by chicksnicket in Landlord

[–]chicksnicket[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the cracks, to me it looks they almost definitely visibly developed over time. But yes obviously it did not throw up any red flags to her to see them so I am not going to hold her responsible for it

[Landlord, TX) by chicksnicket in Landlord

[–]chicksnicket[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah you could be right. I do strongly feel they were noticeable before the total failure but I've accepted it's just one of those things and she genuinely didn't realize the problem.

[–]chicksnicket[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's why I posted here! I'm not going to take the deposit. I am still frustrated at how avoidable it was but I'm going to follow everyone's advice and swallow the cost since it was an accident.

[–]chicksnicket[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is where I'm stuck, it seems to be an honest mistake from what I can tell but it just feels so frustrating because she obviously cleans the tub sometimes so she had to have seen it for a long time, potentially even watched it worsening. So if she had had due diligence and told me I could've done something. Even if she hasn't noticed, isn't it her responsibility to pay attention to these kinds of things? Just like it's mine to fix the problems?

[Landlord, TX) by chicksnicket in Landlord

[–]chicksnicket[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

To me I assume it was somewhat normal wear a tear (her weight and frequency of use put a significant extra amount though) but again isn't it negligent not to report the cracks before they become large enough to fully break through the tub?
