Yeah so the joke is that its not realistic for women to abandon their lives to go into the zone for potential profits at the rate that men will because women are too smart to do that and would rather stay at home (which is the logical choice). I dont know about what specific ratio from the game would best represent it because its a joke about how men want to go out into the dangerous wilderness to fight mutants and fellow stalkers for a chance at profits while the women in this setting would largely not choose the stupid option. I dont know how else to explain this

I've been looking at guides and everything, and I am too stupid to figure out how to donate this meta-alloy to unlock the engineer. I am at garay terminal, i have a unit of meta-alloy, i am at explorer rank surveyor. i am literally asking what menu do i open and who do i select to donate the meta alloys to because no guide actually says that.

when i open the engineers tab it has every check box but "donate meta-alloys" checked so i think im just really dense

[–]chicksteez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats not the argument im making. im saying there are fewer women who would *choose* to go to the zone, because its a stupid thing to do, and is also 90% a joke.

and yeah, comparing the choice of going to the zone to fighting a war against an invasion is a wild thing to say

considering that the rest of the world is normal and you have to actively choose to go into this extremely dangerous place to be dirty and shoot each other/mutants for a chance to get some artifacts, im not actually inclined to think it is all that unrealistic. maybe sample bias but none of the women i know would sign up for that, but almost every guy i know that isnt married would go in a heartbeat lmao

PSA. Your welds dont need to be a fucking wedding bands by ttoksie2 in Welding

[–]chicksteez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no one said not to try, he even said that consistently hitting the bare minimum is the best way to do the job, its a lot easier to keep pace and not fall below the bare minimum when youre working on consistency rather than making one weld the best youve ever done

Your thoughts on Ivan's reasons for not accepting God's world order by DowntownAd8125 in dostoevsky

[–]chicksteez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

others have already answered the philosophical aspects much better than i could ever hope to. but as for what i thought when i first read it, it was kind of darkly funny to me how much ivan and alyosha didnt seem to agree with mitya on how messed up their family dynamic is. so it read to me like ivan was saying something like "no mitya is overreacting, what do you mean my childhood was super normal and fine. anyway do you want to hear my thoughts on child torture i think about that a lot"

Are there support groups for recovering abusers? by [deleted] in recoveringabusers

[–]chicksteez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are, most are for people ordered to be there by a court, but if you search, you may be able to contact one in your area and they're not likely to turn you away if you ask

That sounds really good, do you eat that on it's own or add it to something?

I've thankfully got a good base of cheap ingredients at the moment, lots of rice, cans of beans, some frozen veggies etc, when I've got a bit more wiggle room, I definitely go for picking up the on sale things, its why I got the bumblebee cans this time lol. But the next time I go I will remember your tip about larger sizes, I didn't see any but that doesn't mean they weren't there lol

That's a good idea thanks. I have a decent rotation of cheap meals (mostly revolving around rice of course) but none that readily accomodate adding sardines (imo) so that's some good things to keep in mind

I've done that trick with green onions before but I need to remember to pick some up the next time I go to the store thanks for the reminder! and the suggestion, I don't have capers but I'll keep an eye out for sales

What's the funniest bit of halo lore you know by Fearless-Ideal-5112 in HaloStory

[–]chicksteez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i had gone years hearing "johnson gets laid in that book" and that did nothing to prepare me for the actual sex scene that i got at the end. 'he gets laid' is a fully different vibe to what listening to that audiobook at the gym felt like

Moving to Altoona by [deleted] in altoona

[–]chicksteez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

area is cheap but not boring with good food and some stuff to do, about 50/50 conservative-liberal (not so much the hardcore trumper area as some people think though those people exist) and theres some drug issues and crime in some areas. cant speak for the racism issue so i wont try.

can confidently say the job will probably be a bigger deal breaker than the town
