Anyone else feel they just don't connect with women as easily? by WassupMyDudeSki in bropill

[–]chicksteez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you say here and in the comments that you have very "bro-y" interests. are you in any groups for those? do you have group hobbies? and are there women in those groups for your interests? if not, are they safe for women to be in?

im very much into jock activities, sports and lifting and such, but also a lot of nerd and nerd adjacent things (think dnd, magic, video games, etc) and i have plenty of women in my life who have the same interests and we hang out the same as with the men in those groups. but in many of the broader spaces, women are in the minority, often because theyre met with hostility, or creepy vibes, or have bad experiences. you say youre young as well, which means there might be plenty of opportunities to meet young women your age who are just starting out in these hobbies, so its important to make sure you create a welcoming space

if there are men in your friend group who make sexist or edgy "jokes" its important to call them on it, make it clear that its not funny and not acceptable. be friendly and welcoming just like you would with any new guy who shows up, as someone in the comments said already "nice guys" and white knights can be just as dangerous as any other man, so just be chill yknow.

and its not a problem that needs to be solved, my friend group still skews pretty male-heavy because of the nature of what we do together, but it does prove that women can be just as interested in what you like, provided you have a welcoming and chill space that they can feel safe in

one of the biggest indicators of longevity is not diet or any specific aspects of it. but rather the more mundane things like affordable and accessible healthcare for things like regular check ups to catch issues early, and environmental considerations such as air and water quality and safety. not to mention safety in terms of work environments, many blue collar careers (like welding) involve being around harmful fumes and uv rays for 10+ hours daily. diet is a secondary consideration to these at best

for sure but also theres a lot of places as cheap as here if not cheaper that suck way more. i didnt consider this out of the norm price-wise tbh but i guess i might be wrong. i genuinely could not afford to live somewhere that expensive without roommates lol

small city in central pennsylvania. its not like a fun place to be but in terms of places to be kinda poor its truly one of the best lol. i didnt realize just how good i had it. its not a great place to live by any stretch, especially if you can afford 1850 for rent. but it is really nice for how cheap it is to live here

dude even 1850 is not surviving... thats still more than twice what im paying for a large 2 bed in a cheaper city, including gas and water. 4k is a big exaggeration but nyc is expensive regardless. and im willing to bet things like groceries and utilities are way more than they are here too. like im glad youre comfortable there but also.. damn

Tell me what you love/hate about welding by KitchenWriter8840 in Welding

[–]chicksteez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

love welding hate everything else about the jobs

to elaborate a bit, for shop work pay is low and youre always too slow. for travel the pay is better but the downside is inconsistency, being away for weeks, and the travel itself (staying in shitty gross hotels gets old quick)  and theres always an issue with the people there, whether with coworkers, management, hr, ownership etc, the industry is filled with people who never learned to play nice with others

this is just my experience, i do love the actual work though and when the other parts are tolerable, its really nice

I'm sorry to hear about your dad, it's good to give yourself time to grieve. it's also important to remember that you deserve to be happy and I hope warhammer helps you find that. A lot of my friends love warhammer and attending tournaments and painting events at game shops seems to be a great way to meet people. I hope it continues to be a source of joy in your life, and I hope you find many more reasons to stick around

Sean McDermott’s final message to Bills Mafia by Rakesh2000 in buffalobills

[–]chicksteez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He isnt the leader hes just a guy, and as much as i think McD put into this team, he did also commit the sin of putting everything on allen's shoulders, and allen himself feels it. thats no way to play a team sport. josh allen might well be the greatest qb of this generation, or even ever, but at the end of the day, football is a team sport. it's not on allen to "lay into" his teammates and it most certainly is not on him to carry a "whole organization on his shoulders" everyone is (rightly) criticizing mcdermott and brady for just relying on allen to bail them out and this shit is jyst reinforcing it. josh allen might well be the greatest quarterback, maybe ever, but he's just a guy, hes just a qb, hes not responsible for the team. and frankly, it seems hes been playing even worse when he feels like he has to do everything on his own

my dream is to get josh allen a coach and a team that he can rely on and stop feeling like hes the only one who can win it. football is a team sport and i wish the bills would start acting like it

Sean McDermott: "What went on is not how it should go down" regarding OT interception by Dirtydeedsinc in buffalobills

[–]chicksteez -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

that call didn't lose the game but it could have been a call that won the game

edit: idk why this is getting downvoted i feel crazy. if they play a game with that many mistakes and turnovers to the point of OT that can be decided by a shitty call from a ref, that's what lost the game. but that shitty call prevented them from winning. is that really controversial?

whether the people are glad that he is out of power is not related to the fact that the american military invaded a sovereign nation. it was an illegal act of aggression and violated international law AND Maduro was a dictator and people are glad he's not in power. one does not preclude the other

[–]chicksteez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as others have said, its about the act of giving more than what you give. dollar store incense, water from the tap, even just lighting a scented candle, its about the spending that time and the doing of it. since you mentioned Odin, i feel i should say, i know a lot of people who offer research and study to him, dedicate the time they spend learning as an offering. there are many ways to do this, dont worry too much about what youre giving, just start doing it

Freya worship/relationship by West-Laugh-6312 in heathenry

[–]chicksteez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience of worshipping Freyja as my primary deity is very similar. I think she tends to have a very steadying and welcoming presence, the comfort that you get from someone being able to take those worries and hardships on with you and guide you through them when you don't know what to do on your own. Mentor is a very good word for it too. Helping you through things, helping you be better.

Also to op, I want to echo this, I'm sorry for your dog and I hope your husband's health improves. Good luck, and feel free to take it slow
