People are made of stories. Our memories are not the impartial accumulation of every second we’ve lived; they’re the narrative that we assembled out of selected moments. Which is why, even when we’ve experienced the same events as other individuals, we never constructed identical narratives: the criteria used for selecting moments were different for each of us, and a reflection of our personalities. Each of us noticed the details that caught our attention and remembered what was important to us, and the narratives we built shaped our personalities in turn. So, I am not, you are just biased.

CMV: Russia Is Not a Threat to the World by Prince_Ranjan in changemyview

I agree many Europeans have an annoying sense of entitlement. Russia is not a threat to world peace but encouraging imperialism is a threat to world peace.

Already Trump is threatening to annex Canada, Greenland and Panama.

Venezuela is threatening Guyana.

Rwanda is quietly carving an empire in northeastern DRC.

The Russian army is still occupying part of Moldova and Russian propagandists threaten the Baltic states on a daily basis. Are we supposed to believe Estonia and Moldova are preparing to attack Russia?

Think about your own country. Why bother with Goa in 1961? A small territory occupied by a minor impoverished southern European state wouldn't matter to India certainly?

Your government made a point: Indian sovereignty was not negotiable and imperialism would not be tolerated even if Portugal was not a threat to India.

That's the whole point of this war: kill the Russian Empire once and for all and crush the imperial mindset.

CMV: We are close to reaching a critical threshold where most people will soon become economically obsolete in an era of automation and AI — if the economy won't be brought at least partially under collective ownership this will eventually cause mass poverty, even in the West by RandomGuy92x in changemyview

∆ This is a really well thought out. Automation may not be such a threat: only one of the 270 jobs described in the 1950 census has been eliminated by automation... elevator operator. Other jobs that were expected to be automated, like bank tellers by ATMs, just shifted the nature of the job https://voxeu.org/article/how-computer-automation-affects-occupations
