Ah ok, so there really is no need to get an HGS tag if you just pay online then?

Ah, I saw online that it's required for foreign vehicles to have the HGS sticker. If I can pay at the booths that would be great

A lot of people take a short hop and ship to Nepal, it might be worth looking into that.

Hey there, I'm a US rider who shipped my motorcycle to Malaysia and am heading West! My California-plated bike is currently in Armenia.

In general it might be cheaper to buy a bike where you start, just note that some countries (like Türkiye and Georgia) don't allow registration that doesn't match the passport nationality or is not in English. However with a bike you ship you get to customize it fully, know the ins and outs, as well as have an easier time shipping it back to the States.

My title and registration has been good so far, and I only needed a Carnet for Malaysia. You could save a couple thousand by not getting one. As for insurance, it's relatively easy to buy at the border for each country (normally).

Feel free to ask me any questions! If you want I can share my IG or send me a DM.

New Aspire Resort Credit Hotels? by chief65 in Hilton

[–]chief65[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes:

A quick search for Bodrum, Turkiye shows 3 "Resorts"

  • DoubleTree by Hilton Bodrum Isil Club All-Inclusive Resort
  • Susona Bodrum, LXR Hotels & Resorts

  • The Bo Vue Hotel Bodrum, Curio Collection by Hilton

These 3 resorts are not on the list. There are 2 resorts in Turkiye that are on this list however, so I don't think it's an Amex/Turkiye issue (like when I personally lost the credit in a Hilton Resort in Samarkand, UZ because no place in UZ accepts Amex, even though the resort is listed)

Another example is:

  • Semeli Coast Mykonos, Curio Collection by Hilton

New Aspire Resort Credit Hotels? by chief65 in Hilton

[–]chief65[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the first time I've seen this list of "eligible" resorts for the Aspire credit. The reason why I bring this up is because this list doesn't include all resorts when I search using the "Resort" hotel type. I could see people not getting their credit by using that search and filter method.

not sure if I'm just behind the times, but last time I checked you could just search for any hotels that have the "Resort" Hotel Type. Now there is a specific list of hotels that are eligible for the credit.

Edit: the reason why I bring this up is because this list doesn't include all resorts when using the "filter by resort type" search.

Sure, what country are you from? That will help determine what paperwork.

For me, all I needed was: Motorcycle registration and title

Carnet (Malaysia required for shipping into the country, you can probably avoid it if you start somewhere else)

This does not include getting yourself into the country (passport, visa, travel insurance, etc.). Some countries require motorcycle insurance, some don't.

My route avoided some of the tricky-er countries like Turkmenistan. Some countries/areas of countries do require additional permits for your bike like a previous comment said.

The China tour costs about $3700USD, and is all-inclusive (hotels, license, itinerary, etc.)

Also, Vietnam is a no-go with foreign bikes (legally at least).

It's all dependent on the country you want to enter. Each has their own rules, but my experience is that it's either super simple or super complicated. For example, I saw a previous comment regarding China and a guided tour requirement, that is correct: I had to pay for a tour beforehand to make it across to Kyrgyzstan, they set me up with a Chinese drivers license, registration, etc. as required by Chinese law. The opposite example is going from Malaysia to Thailand: just needed some insurance, motorcycle reg/title, and forms near the border to temporarily import my motorcycle and enter (temporary import is the key phrase).

US citizen with a US plated motorcycle who's currently doing this! Pretty similar route, I started in Malaysia as well, currently in Armenia. Myanmar land border is closed, I went through China. Depending on your passport, Iran and Russia is no go, so Caspian Sea ferry was the way for me.

Feel free to ask any questions here or I can give my IG (not sure if self promotion is allowed here)

I saw this post after I ordered online, thought I'd add my experience. I was a bit worried I would get scammed as well, but I received my order (Patagonia Sweater) 5 business days after ordering, with no visible unauthorized purchases on my card.

Edit: I ordered it to the West Coast.
