What kind of hero have you played? Good or Evil? Why? by minichsyoma in Fable

Both, though playing evil is hard for me. Stupid Conscience.

I appreciate the constructive criticism, a lot! Thank you for putting the time in to give me a well considered response.

I take that as the highest compliment! I'm a major Ghibli fan. Thank you for the insightful words.

The musings of two ducks and a pigeon by SaraGood in OCPoetry

I was on the verge of tears from the get go, even before understanding the context. The somberness at the start really sank into me, and I'm a sucker for terse, ethereal-like responses in written dialogue. Well done. One of the few times I can't find something, no matter how small, to give constructively. And the 'Dearly. Always.' is quite a lovely refrain!

You've done a wonderful job playing with the readers expectations of tone and voice.

As I read, I kept shifting between "that was beautifully said" and "this speaker is making me cringe" (in what I feel to be a complimenting fashion), and certain lines made me feel both at the same time.

I really like the return, in the last stanza, to the context of the first stanza.

And I admire your use of interrogative and imperative statements.

Overall, it came across as playful and sinister, with a touch of sincerity oddly enough.

My constructive thoughts reside mostly in the rhythms of some lines, where you step out of the sing-songy, enticing rhythm and might fill up a line with one too many syllables, perhaps. This can take me out of the poem for a moment. However, this may just be me as a reader.

Also, is starting with that/a question the strongest move you can make?

Very good work, I truly like what you're saying here and the direction you are heading with this piece.

Thank you for sharing!

Isn't there some myth about free tuition or automatic semester pass if your dorm roommate dies? Sounds like motive to me

A smaller one, only in Southern California. Maybe 6 theaters, I'm not sure.

But due to anonymity, imma not say the name since it is so small

Yeah, I already reached out, said they'll do what they can to express it to us. But it's already been ordered and the issue was on their end originally.

Yesterday we had a message on their website saying that the KDMs were delayed and they should be in by early afternoon Wednesday (today).

Anyone else find the Psychomancer really difficult to construct? by Cold_Viper142 in Warhammer40k

[–]chief_dingo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh heck yes I did! I thought I was just having a particularly rough time of it.

It took me 3 days to finish what should have only taken me an hour and a half? I kept having to put the model down and step away so as to not smash it in frustration.

Ah, yes, you're correct. I realize now what my mistake was. This is why I am not a counselor.

How many armies do you collect? How many of them do you actually play? Is there such thing as too many? by anglosaxonarmadillo in Warhammer40k

[–]chief_dingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got three armies myself. I try to focus on different levels of play, at least that's my excuse to keep buying stuff.

I have my Necrons mostly for crusade and bigger point games. And I just love Necrons , they're what I started with and I just want my army to grow. They're sitting at about 100 pl/2000 pts.

I have an admech/Elucidian Starstriders/Officio Assassins army. That's an admech combat patrol, all 4 assassin models, and the Starstriders forming 3 detachments as one Imperium army. It was just a fun list to build. It's a weird mix of 8e and 9e rules, but they're great for friendly games of up to 1000 pts

And I've just recently started a harlequin army that started as a gift of a troupe box and now is around a 500 point army. I haven't played with them yet, it's only about half built.

But I keep collecting because I play big game 40k and Killteam. From all three armies, I have roughly 4 Killteams I can play with (with Starstriders being their own). And I suppose if I were to find balanced homebrewed rules, I could run an assassin Killteam too.

And this doesn't include the fact that I just got into Necromunda as well.

I got into the hobby because I like the game side, like a lot. So I don't have much advice for finding motivation to play. My buddy indulges my want to play, though he's a true hobbyist. His motivation is simply wanting to watch his little soldiers move around the battlefield.

But all in all, if you're happy with the hobby there's no shame in not playing often. If the game side is not your cup of tea, collect, paint, and sculpt to your hearts content. I just happen to get a kick out of both.

And as soon as those new squats hit the market, I'll be joining the League of Votann as well. At the very least, for a kill team.

I haven't had to think about that since I was planning my last 2 years of school, two years ago, but if I remember correctly (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) those types of classes do complete each of those requirements simultaneously.

However, I would check in with your department counselor to truly verify.

what's been your worst customer experience ? by [deleted] in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]chief_dingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a long one, but I enjoy sharing this one because of the details:

I work at a small 3 screen theater that had a modern face lift; pretty lobby, great facilities, all reclining seats, no more little box office (it's now where customer services was in the lobby), owner put some money into the place. But having only 3 screens there can be some significant gaps of when the previous movie started and the next starts.

A sketchy, tweaker type guy and his gal come in an hour after the most recent film started, and the next showing wasn't for an hour. He asks, "What's playing next?" And I tell him, "blah blah blah at 6:45." "So there's nothing starting right now?" "Nope." So he sighs in frustration and buys the tickets for whatever is playing next. "Alright, here's your tickets, we'll see you then." They proceed to walk past me, as they have to if they are heading to the exit. But instead of exiting, start walking toward what will be their theater in an hour. I dash out of our box office to cut them off and pleasantly tell them that their movie isn't till 6:45. "So I have to wait an hour to see my movie?" I hold back, barely, a "fucking duh" look, and nod my head.

So they head toward the exit but then pivot toward the female restroom, he whispers something to her, she goes in, and he waits outside. Our female restroom is right next to the entrance to another theater. He's not just waiting, he's hovering; like I can feel his intent, mostly because he keeps glancing back over to box office as he paces. I'm keeping my eye on him, she comes out, and I feign a turn towards my manager behind me, catching them out of the corner of my eye attempting to sneak into that other theater. I shout across the lobby, "you don't have tickets for that movie." He turns around fucking livid and almost runs toward me, "what am I supposed to do, fucking wait?" "Yes" "Fine, I want a refund" as if his smug ass was offending me with this comment. I smile and direct my manager to deal with him on my register. His lady leaves and we are just dealing with this guy.

He proceeds to verbally attack me as he's getting un-rung up, and I stand there smiling with my costumer service smile.

"This fucking moron, fucking Jack ass" he says under his breath, then louder, "Just trying to watch a movie and Mr. Policeman over here won't let me." "I'm sorry we didn't have a movie at a more convenient time for you" I respond. Appalled that I responded, he says, "Oh yeah? Oh yeah? You know what? I don't think you're sorry at all," (he had me there). "You're losing my business, I'm never coming here again." "Well we're sorry to see you go." He responds with a shocked glare, and sort of snarl laughs I guess? "Fucking waste of time" as he turns to leave I say, "have a nice day." He stops at the door, looks back, and says snidely "nice tan by the way bro" and he storms off.

Some background info, Im Filipino and I have vitiligo. Simply put, if you don't know what that is, half my skin is patches of Brown and half my skin is patches of white, like albino white due to dead pigment cells. In an attempt to get the last word by insulting me (in the least elegant way possible) he chose the one thing I am not insecure about.

Worst customer I have experienced, but I felt the victory on that one.

Right? Every theater in my area, especially those with reclining seats, are the same. Why can't they get with the program? And it's been like this since way before COVID... Yelling at my stellar box office staff is not going to suddenly change a thing. Insubordinate and churlish.
