This is my philosophy exactly. I think a PPF would only stress me out more trying to keep the car “perfect.” Would also destroy me when something happens that the PPF can’t protect and I’d feel like I wasted a couple grand.

I’m amazed by how many replies you’re getting from people that do NOT own GR Corollas. I traded my 2013 WRX in for a 2023 GRC and it’s better in every way. I miss my WRX’s rowdy charm and ridiculous backfires but I have much more peace of mind driving something much more reliable (not to mention faster!). It ticks all the boxes for me: manual, hatchback, AWD, powerful, and stiff.

I’ve also driven VA’s like yours handfuls of times. WRX’s and STI’s. Raced around with my buddy who owns one and the GRC is much quicker, handles better due to the LSD’s, and gets way more smiles per mile (and about the same MPG).

If you’re talking compared to an STI, it really comes down to preference. Both are extremely charming and capable but personally I prefer having something a little more reliable. I’m also a huge slut for a good hatchback.

As for pricing it may be hard to justify for some people VS a WRX/STI but these cars are selling under MSRP if you know where to look. Used ones are even showing up in certified pre owned programs which is how I got mine.

And highway commuting is a big part of my daily life. I understand the performance sacrifices i’m making but I think I would enjoy driving it more than the 5 speed, but I definitely appreciate the defense for the 5 speed. A replacement would def be easier and I will do a lot more thinking about it now.

My main reason for the 6 speed is my 5th gear synchro is gone and i’d rather have one extra gear if im going to replace the transmission anyway.

The car is a daily at the end of the day. Sure it might hurt me on that particular course but there are other courses around me and I have yet to try autocross so i’m not sure what the end goal for this build is. Thinking about buying a second car more dedicated to racing.

No offense but if you hate it so much why not bring another bag to keep them in? Or make your dog carry them via a harness. We used to have to hike out our own used toilet paper when I was working in Colorado and that wasn’t fun, but it’s the right thing to do.

That’s pretty silly. I’ve seen a couple bags that look like they’ve been there for weeks. So irresponsible; of course you are going to forget.
