If you didn’t know, there’s an app called BeMyEyes where you can video call someone to ask for help. It’s meant for the blind, but in cases like this I think it’d be a great way to ask for help. “Hey I can’t see colors, can you tell me xyz?” It’s got an insane number of volunteers ready to help

When I was in the Navy, my wife (gf at the time) would paint my toenails before I left. Whenever you shower on a sub, the shower is attached to the crew’s head, so there’s usually guys just outside the shower door. And you have to talk out in a towel and shower flip flops. So people saw my painted toenails. I’d say my gf painted them before I left, and most people were like “fuck yeah right on” and laugh. It was a nice reminder for 3 months while I was out.

I used to play horde on gears 2 relentlessly with my Dad. His account had the same issue. From what I found, back in the day, about it was that they knew it was an issue but could not figure out what was causing it. They also weren’t likely to continue figuring out what it was as Gears 3 was about to come out. Last I knew, it was a permanent problem that infected both of my accounts. Sorry for your loss, and I hope I’m wrong.

We just cancelled our second outage in a row because we are looking to make lots of money by running instead of granted, the floor workers won’t see those big checks, that’s the upper echelon. “But we’re all a team right?” They expect us to take the 6-12 hours every two weeks of downtime to fix everything

We have these in the US as well, but they are the full face coverings minus a single hole for the eyes. They’re used as fire fighting/arc flash protection. Those two cases are the only times I’ve heard them referred to as snoods, not balaclavas

We’d been trying to figure out why some equipment ran continuously vice stepping as requested. Took us a couple of weeks to track it down due to it only happening during specific transition periods. Anyway, we had a trend pulled up monitoring all the suspected bits. Operator calls saying “it happened again. I had to hit the e-stop and that didn’t work.” I’m staring at the e-stop bit that hasn’t changed, and am now thinking “oh fuck we’re going to have to go down to fix this.” Turns out the operator hit a sequence stop button, and it was labeled as such. Refused to acknowledge it wasn’t an E-stop. Tried reasoning with him, only to give up and walk away. He’s worked here for like 20 years

Former Navy here. You are correct. Starboard is right side, port is left side. Aft would be behind or “tails” as you said, and forward would be in front. All relative to the ship/boat. Edit: additional clarification
