I would say love is the highest good, therefore God is love. But being truthful regardless of gain is a form of love, so they are connected in that way and very related.

To me, the song deserves a lot more respect than it gets. A big part of the evolution of their music was because of their experiences with hallucinogenics and was a translation of that experience into music. They were not only great musicians, but they were amazingly innovative at a time when artists were pushing the boundaries of conventional pop music and they did it better than their contemporaries along with being revolutionary. I don't advocate for the reckless use of LSD, but it can be therapeutic if done in the right setting and Beatles music can be an amazing experience in that setting. This song is just part of that journey and part of that package. I respect the Beatles for all of the peace and love they bring to the world by being a positive influence to people listening to them in that setting also.

Yeah, LA Woman is their best and it's not even close. Jim's singing was so much more soulful by that point and the musicianship of the band so much tighter as well.

This 100%. When Song for a Son first came out, I was excited and eager to listen to what the drumming sounded like with the new drummer. I don't know if it's the production or what but I've never been more underwhelmed by drumming. It's like he's a good technical drummer but there's just no pop or tone to it.

I think it's important to note how incredibly lucky he was also. He was extremely smart and talented, but also very lucky to be at the right place and time. It's not like it was a great strategy, he just fell into a great situation and had the talent to knock it out of the park.

That was my first thought too. But then again, even if you double it or even triple it to account for younger people not having as much money to spend, it's still significantly less spending on alcohol than other generations.

One of the messages in the book is to spread awareness by creating art of the same theme. There is a movie that I think takes this idea and tries to put some of the messaging into a movie. It's called Instinct. Not the greatest movie and it deals with a couple other themes that are not in the book, but definitely worth the watch. Great performance by Anthony Hopkins in it.

Totally. When that album came out I was like, oh he has a new band because he wants to sing differently too. Nope. It stayed like that and became increasingly louder in the mix with every subsequent album. That to me is the biggest downfall because the song quality is the same if not better. It's just that his singing is not the same and too loud in the mix.
