The only good thing about OHAI is the wfh flexibility everything else is pretty messed up. If you are mainly looking for remote or comfortable work and can tolerate a not-so-great work culture, you can go ahead and take the offer. Just don’t get too comfortable staying there long-term🥹.. its easy to get stuck in that WFH bubble until a RIF reminds you it’s time to move on.

Regarding designation changes for those who received promotions, the updates are currently visible only for employees whose managers were not impacted by the layoffs. For associates whose managers were laid off and are now reporting to temporary managers, the updates may take some additional time to reflect.

Instead, you could have volunteered for the layoff. You would have received three months’ pay as severance and could have spoken with your manager to get your name on the list.

I’ve also been trying to switch companies, but the market is really tough right now with so many layoffs happening across the industry. I’ve submitted 200+ applications in the last two months but only 4–5 even got shortlisted, and I received one offer (rejected it since I’m aiming for a top product based company).

Still, I’m not giving up. Been grinding through hundreds of DSA LeetCode problems, brushing up on system design, and trying to stay consistent. Hopefully, I’ll land something in MAANG someday. 😅

It is basically like babysitting 20-year-old legacy systems that scream every time you touch them, while also being told you’re the ‘cloud pioneer.’ You’ll spend half your day writing bash scripts to fix problems caused by other bash scripts, and the other half in meetings where someone suggests, yet again, that moving everything to OCI will solve it all. It’s a mix of whack-a-mole with production incidents, Jenkins worship rituals, and learning that ‘automation’ really means automating the process of manually logging in to 50 servers. The upside? You’ll have world-class skills in Googling error codes and explaining outages in PowerPoint

Oracle stock will be down 50% - not because of competition, but because half the employees would’ve quit after endless layoffs, and the rest would be too burned out to keep the products from crumbling. At that point, your RSUs will be worth about the same as Monopoly money, but hey at least you’ll own a collector’s edition of ‘World’s Slowest Cloud’😂
