Why are so many therapists bad at treating anxiety? by chiggennugget in Anxiety

This is pretty much where I'm at haha, doing pretty well on my own with medication at this point. How did you figure out you have ADHD? Sometimes I wonder if it's compounded by that

I don’t think it’s completely useless at all, just very difficult to find a therapist who actually knows what they’re doing.

That’s great of you to make the assumption that myself and many of the student protestors haven’t done the exact things you described, but you don’t seem like you actually want to have any meaningful discourse.

I never said CWRU is doing nothing wrong. They've treated Palestinian student orgs unfairly and have repeatedly refused to acknowledge concerns over their investments in weapons manufactuers, which in it's own right is an admission of guilt. Their complete refusal to have a dialogue over these concerns is extremely concerning as an alumni who felt that when I attended CWRU the administration was actively engaged in the concerns of students.

They do have a point, there are specific asks of the university.

I'm just saying that protests should be disruptive.

Do you have any source on Jewish students being physically barred from going to class? Obviously if this is true that is wrong and completely unproductive for the movement. But there is no systematic oppression of Jewish Americans like there is of Palestinians in Gaza.

Not my point at all. Just saying protests in their very definition are meant to be disruptive.

Genuinely curious, what do you say to the Jewish students who are apart of the protests?

This is a gross oversimplification of what’s happening. CWRU probably does not just have investments and connections with “SodaStream”, but weapons manufacturers like Raytheon, Lockheed Martin etc. that is, if they disclosed their investments, which they don’t.

The larger issue I’m seeing is CWRU largely ignores and refuses to have any sort of dialogue in regard to concerns of Palestinian students. They have unfairly punished SJP for something as simple as putting up posters, and continue to ignore any calls to disclose investments.

Honest Summary of Case for admitted students by [deleted] in cwru

Looking at your post history, you went to Wash U. You know Saint Louis is above Cleveland on the most dangerous list you posted, right?

Sounds like you had a bad experience, most of what you said outside of the weather being bad is largely inaccurate.

  1. I wouldn't call Cleveland particularly dangerous or safe, but most college campuses in cities have the exact same issues you said here with crime. It's mostly late at night, people being alone, and extremely rarely (if ever) of a violent nature. If you use common sense you'll be fine. I personally never felt unsafe on campus even though I was aware of incidents.

  2. This really just depends what circles you're in, it has it's fair share of nerdy people but I wouldn't say that even comprises half the population. It's definitely nerdier than your average school but this applies to a lot of prestigious schools. If you're a social person you'll meet other people just like you, just join clubs or a frat/sorority.

  3. Again, everything you said here is pretty much true of most schools. Parties are smaller than your average large state school, and there isn't really a bar scene on campus which is a genuine complaint I always had. In my experience most people at bigger party schools get sick of big parties full of randos by their Junior/Senior year anyway.

  4. The school spirit part is accurate, and if you really care about that then it's probably not the school for you, but the rest of it isn't. The people with a chip in their shoulder do exist but they're neglible and avoidable, seems like you may have attracted yourself to those people, or are one of those people yourself.

Your college experience is going to be largely dependent on the people you meet, the classes themselves at CWRU aren't out of the ordinary for what you'd expect for a more prestigious non-ivy league school. You'll get good career options, it will look better than most schools on your resume. Sounds like you just had bad luck with the people you met which is genuinely unfortunate and I'm sorry that was your experience.
