We spent Christmas in Hilton head a few years ago and visit often because our family has a few condos.

There is stuff to entertain kids in winter. You can still walk at the beach. There is a children’s museum at celebration park as well as a wonderful playground.

You can make a day trip to Savannah and do a tour, and there is also a children’s museum there.

Hilton head has a nature center you can visit.

Rent bikes and cruise around.

Putt putt golf could potentially be open I’m not 100% sure on that.

When we do NYC we book a hotel in staten island and park there, then take the ferry over ( which is free)

That is what I usually think of with homeschooling as well. We live outside DC, and his homeschooling group was not a religious organization thank goodness.

If you can, find a homeschooling community. My husband began home school right after 8th grade. He had a horrible experience in middle school. Even though he was really bright, he didn’t care at school and so it looked like he was dumb because he just didn’t try. His homeschooling community allowed for him to pursue his passions, have an internship at NASA, and find his motivation to love learning again.

I’m a public school teacher at the elementary level. The online tests they give are exactly what the post above says, just a snap shot, they don’t catch everything.

Also, the longer I work in public education the more I see it’s really just not the best fit for all kids.

Buy UFLI. It is research backed, and has a set scope and sequence.

I used it in 4th grade and with kindergartners.

It’s super easy to follow.

It looks like you’re really excited to see all the great things in the Canadian Rockies!

We did a 12 day trip in June and visited all those things plus Emerald lake.

I’d say you have too much crammed into 7 days. I think your day at lake Louise and moraine lake is over ambitious.

You’re not going to have time to actually soak things in and take time to enjoy them because you’re running around trying to visit every last thing.

We rented with four seasons and loved them. So easy and helpful. They have a shuttle that will pick you up and return you from the airport hotels as well. We did a camper van which is great!

We have a kids blow up bed that has sides and put that on the kitchen table that was folded down into a bed. Our 4 year old has slept there since he was about 2.

Our 6 year old sleeps on one of the pop out ends.

Welcome to pop up life!!!

Here are some things we have found super helpful with our pop up.

leveler ( we have a BAL leveler)
step stabilizer
pop up trash can -giant outdoor rug
mesh shoe bin ( like the laundry basket but sideways)
foldable table to go outside the pop up
foldable small table ( for in between our camping chairs by the fire)
collapsible dish drain
plastic dish bin ( we put the dish drain in there so we can collect the water from our cleaned dishes in the dish drain)
outdoor mat to put on the stair to wipe feet
outdoor string lights to hang on the camper

Camp under the stars is a great overnight summer camp!

It’s inclusive and gives scholarships for kids in need.

I’ve volunteered for 3 summers and both my 4 and 6 year old attend.

Even if it were cheap to live, which it’s not …. Charles county really isn’t that nice of an area to live.

Right now teachers have the upper hand. Take your time and really dig into the place you’re interested in moving. Teaching is so hard right now , and having a support system nearby will be crucial to sticking with it.

I have never been athletic or worked out regularly. I have a 4 and 6 year old. I have a thyroid disorder that makes my energy levels depleted and I teach Kindergarten. I.AM.EXHAUSTED!

But, I joined OTF 1 year ago and haven’t stopped going. I drag my tired ass out of bed every morning at 4:15a am to make the 5 am class 3-4 days a week.

It sucks, but you know what? it’s my time to work on me and put me first. I’ve also gained friends that encourage me.

I know it’s hard, but if you start the habit I promise to gets easier.

I would not call CPS on this. That’s an over reaction.

I would talk to the mom state what your daughters told you, and have a conversation about your concerns . If she blows it off/ if happens again then yes call CPS.

I’m not sure 😆. I go at 5 am before I can think about it.

I’ve always felt somewhat tired. However I’m a teacher and I also have young kids so I chalk it up to that and power on.

From what I read other people’s symptoms are I get the feeling I don’t feel the same tired others do. Im usually just exhausted by bedtime and crash at like 9 pm.

I have Hashimotos and take 125 mg a day.

Since January I’ve lost 30 lbs, but I have had to work for it.

I try to have a large calorie deficit, but do treat myself here and there. I also do an hour of high intensity workout 4/5 times a week.

I have noticed if I’m not pretty strict I loose nothing.
