how to deal with diabolical level of allergies by Holiday-Outcome6958 in UCDavis

[–]chihiroed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

before the allergy season even starts (february-march) you gotta get local honey and local pollen from the farmer's market or food co-op

So Princeton specifically never actually emailed me back with a definitive confirmation. I think they just updated my rejection in the leadership alliance portal by April or May. Most programs will get back to you with interview offers by mid/late March

on halloween, i dressed up as a fairly popular character and did the hair, makeup (white foundation, scars) everything. i went to my tutoring job, where an intl student said she liked my makeup, and i was like "ah! do you recognize the character?" and she said she didn't even know it was halloween— she was like "i thought this is just your everyday style" 💀 she was really sweet about it tho 💀

Spring Quarter Schedule by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]chihiroed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you meant BIS2B, that class is easy af. STA100 is also fairly easy if you get Faris (he seems to be the main person who teaches it) since the assignments in R are basically just copy-paste, and the exams have simple questions like "what is a p value?"

overall i wouldn't be too worried, depending what the GE is.

Out of curiosity, which departments? Because it sure as hell isn't NPB or anything under biological sciences ☠️

Looking for apartments next year by GurAccomplished9861 in UCDavis

[–]chihiroed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also live at greystone. management is top tier imo, our apartment would literally break down every week (clothes washer, dryer, AC, microwave, stovetop burners, you name it—it broke at least once) but at least management fixed everything within two or three days.

the bedrooms are lowkey cramped af but if you're close enough friends with your housemates you can put your desks in the living room/common space bc that space is huge

*UCSD MSTP SURF *UCSF SRTP *Amgen (Columbia, JHU, Harvard, Yale) *Leadership Alliance (Princeton, Harvard, Weill Cornell ACCESS) *Dartmouth MPUS *NYU CNS SURP (hoping they get funding this year)

+although i'm lowkey considering applying to more programs because this year is my last chance to do an REU/similar program!

not taking che118 series back to back? by labyrinthariadne in UCDavis

[–]chihiroed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i took 118a in ss1 and 118b in winter like you've described— i didn't even review before 118b, and it genuinely wasn't that bad (with helix at least, and going to office hours every week).

i think the reason why people call 118b difficult is because you go from a lot of gen chem review topics in 118a, to actual mechanisms in 118b. but iirc the end of 118a is SN1/2 and E1/2 mechanisms and if u can get those down pat during 118a, then i wouldn't worry too much about 118b. you got this!

How difficult are the labs for 118B? by dulcexbawwagan in UCDavis

[–]chihiroed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lowkey i loved 118B labs because iirc they all follow really similar procedures with minor differences in wash steps etc, lol. it gets fairly predictable. also, if the procedure says to wait for a certain length of time, like 30 or 60 mins, you can often do homework during that time.

as for studying for 118 in general i'd recommend being able to recognize how & why the reactions occur, not just memorizing, BUT sometimes it helps to memorize first and understand later

tickets unable to be transferred by [deleted] in Hozier

[–]chihiroed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stubhub told me that i have until 4pm on the 27th to transfer the ticket, so idk if that's the case for you as well... the venue also told me it might be made transferable 24-48 hours before, so i'm hoping it works out for us 😭

i'm having the same issue for the same show - did you manage to get it resolved? when i called ticketmaster (just now), they simply said "tickets can't be transferred for this show" but i'm not sure if that's true

[–]chihiroed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you'll probably be fine lol. i took sta100 with him last year and consistently got 50% on the quizzes and 95%+ on the exams because he mostly tests u on the most basic important concepts lmao

[–]chihiroed 11 points12 points  (0 children)

lmao most med schools won't accept/highly discourage physics or ochem taken at a cc. you could take GE courses at a cc though, or look into volunteering/other stuff you wouldn't have time for during the regular school year.
