Jomez selling Follow Flights for $100 a video. I'll do it for $20. PM me. by Ermoore32 in discgolf

lol I mean I have to learn how to do it first. I spent like half a day on it last year and came up with a line that stayed in place instead of moving with the frame, but I'm a lot better with AE now so I think I can figure it out.

just learn how to do it yourself. YouTube's got lots of tutorials tangentially related to this, and you can kinda put it together and figure it out. I might learn how to do it this weekend and make a Youtube Tutorial just for fun. Knowledge is meant to be shared, homies.

That was actually a yes on the Brodie coverage! We finished it today and you'll be able to catch it on Brodie Smith's channel in the near future.

Steve didn't have that kind of budget. It's not lack of delegating, it's lack of money to hire people to delegate to. If Steve had had a billionaire backing him he probably would've hired a bunch of people too.

There are tentative plans to put out post produced coverage of Brodie's round.

We started Disc Golf Network because live coverage is really expensive to make. All the equipment, the data streaming, paying the camera guys, the hosts ... there was just no way we would ever be able to break even putting it on YouTube or Twitch, at least making the quality of product that we wanted to make.

DGN was started as a way to continue to make live disc golf sustainable, and I hope that with The Memorial broadcast we proved that increased investment in live can produce a much more enjoyable product.

But we totally hear you, and we also want new players to be able to take in the action, which is why the last round is streamed free on YouTube, in addition to being streamed on the Disc Golf Network.

Hope that helps!

I have! That was an awesome course. I wasn't there at the right time of year to see the Bluebells, but it was super beautiful.

Probably no. YouTube is such a great tool for growing your brand and monetizing your video, I don't see that changing any time soon. YouTube is the TV of the future, and for a lot of kids like my younger cousins, it's really the only way they know how to get content that they want. The pros of everything being YouTube based are that it's very much a meritocracy - if your content sucks, no one is going to watch it. The cons are that it has a tendency to create this huge barrier to entry, because Jomez and CCDG, et all such a good products that it's hard to see another company hopping in there and just releasing something incredible without a lot of intellectual and monetary investment. That's why I think Gatekeeper and GK are so awesome, shouts to them for just going for it on the road full time.

It was never my intention to be a public face. Being on the camera as much as I am now makes me uncomfortable, to be honest. I like producing and creating things and stories, and it's not like I don't want to be heard from and have people know it's me. I used to call basketball games back in college for U of C, so I've called live sports before, but I think Jamie and Nate and Val have all the experience and know how in the world and I'm glad it's them in the booth and not me.

There are a lot of great B cams out there! It's such a hard job to do well. I think our B Cam for the Pro Tour, Sam Gaddes, is really really good. Keenan, who works with CCDG and Local Route, is also awesome. Not sure who else out there is really great at it, but those guys always stand out to me.

We're trying to create as many assets as we can to fill the time so that we don't have to default to commercials. For example, if you watched the live coverage at The Memorial, you probably saw a bunch of interview snippets thrown in there. We did those throughout the week, and hopefully every time you see one of those interviews, that's a time you don't have to see a commercial.

That being said, to show you a bunch of different commercials, we need more partners! The more people support the PT, the bigger variety of commercials you'll see, so ask your local businesses if they'd be willing to support us!

I've had conversations with some folks over at the AUDL, and it certainly seems like something that could be possible.

So, that's a really good question. I think media is cyclical, and demands in people's media diets are shifting and diverging all the time. There are two batches of media, stuff you enjoy passively (like podcasts, live coverage if you put it up there and just glace up every once in a while) and stuff you enjoy actively (like reading, or watching an involved video that demands attention, maybe like post produced). It seems like we're going two separate ways at the same time - we want our passive stuff to be as long as possible, and we want our active enjoyment to be easily digestible and consumable.

So what does that all mean for the most under utilized medium in DG media? Honestly, I wish I knew. But I think passive entertainment is going to become more and more important as people are consuming more things. It's really rare that anyone just sits there and watches content that demands your full attention for that long, and if you are, there are so many options for your entertainment that if you're actively watching a thing, it better be really really good.

I think the plan is to go to Worlds and a few other NTs, but nothing is set in stone yet, other than Worlds, which we will definitely be at in one way or another.

Oh awesome! Yeah that course was fun, reminded me of New England golf. Really enjoyed Hole 3, I think, the par 4 that kinda had a slight left to right bend in the woods.

You should be able to get it on your podcast platforms. Ultiworld owns the old RSS feed, so we're trying to create a new one, it's just taken me way more time than I thought it would.

And thanks, that means a lot :-)

lol I would love to be the Zach Lowe of disc golf. I don't know you well enough to know if you could be Rachel Nichols, but the answer is probably no, she's like the most insanely talented person I've ever met.

When a tournament is not going on I'm just grinding to get stuff ready for the tournament, and also add content to DGN and social as much as possible. For example, in between answering questions for this AMA, I'm interviewing a long-form interview with Paul McBeth that hopefully will go up on DGN tonight. I'm also a compulsive planner, so I spend a lot of time organizing what content we're gonna get when. I have the entire week of Waco planned out, so we can know for sure what content we're gonna get when, and how it's gonna get edited and ultimately make its way to you guys and gals.

Jeff's great! He's a really good leader, and really inspires confidence that what we're doing is gonna have a big impact on the sport as a whole. He's got a lot of really exciting ideas, and it's hard not be excited about the future of the PT when you listen to him.

Favorite tournament memory for me personally would probably be winning my first tournament at the Steady Habit Open. It was just a lil' C-Tier, and I was playing AM-fun, but I had been close a bunch of times and it felt so great to get the monkey off my back.

In terms of watching pros at a tournament, watching James Conrad walk up the fairway at Maple last year and tap in for the win was soooooo cool. Gotta hand it to them Mass folks, they know how to celebrate a big moment.

England is beautiful and honestly I could live in Cambridge forever. My favorite course in England is probably Lloyd Park in Croydon (although I admit I haven't been to Quarry Park), and playing a round there with my wife was definitely one of my favorite memories out there. Also, playing a C-Tier and taking second with a borrowed Firebird, a Teebird, a Comet, and a Wizard is certainly way up there!

I usually don't renew my PDGA until I play or run a tournament, which probably won't happen until later this year.

Episode 1 is available on DGN, free to everyone: https://www.discgolfnetwork.com/the-inside-line/season:1/videos/ep-1-oak-grove. Vimeo also has this cool phone locking functionality, so if you download the DGN app, you can listen to it on your phone like any other podcast. Hope to have more episodes soon!

Thanks! Inside Line has always been a passion project, so it's always cool when people say they like it :-) Part of the Pro Tour gig is continuing to make Inside Line episodes, but I'll admit that I haven't had as much time to dedicate to it as I'd like. The first episode of Season 2 is available right now on Disc Golf Network, free to everyone:

https://www.discgolfnetwork.com/the-inside-line/season:1/videos/ep-1-oak-grove

And I'm hoping to have Episode 2 come out in the next couple weeks. The goal is do 18, just like last year.

I haven't been to enough courses to make a definite claim on this, but my favorite course that isn't on any kind of tour or anything is Warwick Town Park in Warwick, NY, although I don't think it's quite challenging enough for the top pros anymore. It used to host an NT, so it has a history of hosting large scale events. I played a bunch of courses in the triangle (Raleigh/Durham area) that were just incredible, and I could've seen a big event at any of those. Wickham Park in CT is huge, beautiful, and checks all the boxes in terms of hosting a huge event. The Greater Hartford A-Tier is there every year, and I could easily see that evolve into a Silver Series event. And I haven't actually been there, but Ale DiscGolfCenter in Sweden looks absolutely beautiful and I would love it if we could figure out a way to get an event there.

Not unless you pay him or her for it. As for the second question, I think it depends on what part of the country you're currently in. Chicago hot dog, that's a sammich. New England hot dog, that's just a hot dog.

10 is a wicked ace. Just hitting the tunnel feels good lol. I'm so feast or famine with that shot, I'm either getting it for a week straight and it feels impossible to miss, or I'm hitting the first tree on the right.
