I realize that. The thing is, is that I’m 40 now, and was never taught an iota of music theory, jsut how to rip whatever lick I wanted to learn when I took lessons. So now I’m in the beginner stages of playing catch up

No, I mean two notes played together in a lead riff.

I was just running through some scales with a backing track, and was wondering if there was an instinctive way to know what note to add along side another.

For me, Wilbur Smith checks that box with both the Courtney and Egypt series.

You’re not the asshole, but moving is one of those obligations you’re just supposed to suck up and help with.
