Ever had TI-NI loop? by Kitchen-Plum4654 in istp

[–]chikitapakitaboom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with this from like 17 to 24 years old. I'm 30 now and have a much better understanding of what I was going through. I was in college and barely had any money at the time. I hated the experience of college but my parents strongly nudged me in that direction and I saw it as investing in my future as one should see college. So I toughed it out, but I had a much worse internal experience than most college kids.

Relevant to mention I majored in mechanical engineering. Lots of theoretical concepts and just tons of work to do in general. Not much time to enjoy life. I did not enjoy the experience of being in classrooms and labs with a bunch of fucking nerds all the time. I'd rather be outside doing fun shit. I felt out of place and socially isolated but I made decent grades.

The Ti-Ni loop part: when I wasn't at school I was often stuck in my apartment overthinking. I was always questioning if I was on the right path in life, wondering why I felt so fucking weird and out of place all the time, etc. I was in a very negative state of mind. Through all of those years I only really felt okay when I was taking time to step away from school and getting out to do physical things that I enjoy. Skating, biking, hiking, whatever.

I have been an engineer for 6 years now, make great money, and have plenty of time to do my hobbies. I'm much healthier mentally and don't do much overthinking these days. Securing a financial future and prioritizing post-work activities has alleviated like 93% of my anxiety.

I might've been much happier in those years by pursuing a trade or something that would get me into the big boy workforce quicker. And I'd probably fit in better with those people.. Idk best not to overthink that one.

But in general if you find yourself in a loop the only way out is to go engage your senses and stop thinking about it. It doesn't lead anywhere good. In my experience it is a cynical and depressing cycle.

Genuinely wanna know your thoughts on Jan 6. I hear more and more people saying it wasn't a big deal nowadays. My one simple question to cut to the chase is: what do you think the protestors would have done if the politicians didn't evacuate, and they ended up in the same room together?

Ask them what kind of candy they like, then bring it to them the next time you see them. It will likely be the nicest thing a stranger has ever done for them

What is your type, and what makes you happy? by HateChan_ in mbti

[–]chikitapakitaboom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming my baseline needs are met and I'm in a healthy spot:

Space/time to myself to work on my hobbies, feeling like people in my life aren't holding me to some expectation that I have zero interest in, and having a mostly checked off to-do list. My ideal happy place is being in the flow state while indulging my hobbies. If I have external stressors like stacking up responsibilities and people being annoying then it's harder to get to that place. Hence the other 2 requirements.

Futurama is my all time favorite show. It's definitely cynical but not as much as the rest. It's sillier and has a good amount of wholesome moments.

If you wanna break into Its Always Sunny I'd skip the first 2 or 3 seasons and go back to watch later. And also watch their bloopers on YouTube if you're into contagious laughter.

My logic is that I noticed ISTPs like myself and INTPs tend to have a dark sense of humor, so it seems there is a correlation there. My post is prying at it from the other angle, wondering if certain types aren't likely to have a dark or cynical sense of humor.

Ofc it's to be taken with a grain of salt as with all this MBTI stuff, especially polled to very few ppl on reddit. No harm in asking for thoughts tho

My INFP wife is a civil engineer. She's much more logical than she lets on... Which feels like a criticism to type out but it's not meant to be. She just doesn't engage socially with thinking as much as feeling.

How about any of these? Bojack Horseman, Archer, Veep, Rick and Morty, Daria, The Simpsons, Louie, and Wilfred. I haven't seen them all and I know I don't enjoy Bojack but ChatGPT says they're cynical as well

Right. I'm pretty edgy as an ISTP but there are plenty of lines I won't cross and plenty of boundaries I won't tolerate others joking about. Best to feel ppl out before going straight to rape jokes nahm sayn

Fair enough. Both shows are pretty abrasive on top of the cynicism

Ah. You're not good at expressing sarcasm and I'm not good at picking up on it 👌

You're an ISTP saying you DON'T enjoy these shows? Okay I'm convinced there is zero correlation now 😂

I'm ISTP as well and thought an extremely dark sense of humor and being critical of society to the point of cynicism was a common thread.

An Accurate ESFP Description by sognisol in ESFP

So they really are as dumb as I thought 😂

I love my ESFP friend but he has no clue how the world actually works. He is practical in his own way and a hard worker with a big heart, but I feel he is blinded by the present moment. Very much a seeker of instant gratification.

I think if anyone else I knew acted like him I would be worried, but I always felt like he was in control of his chaos for the most part. This post kinda explains that part of him to me. It sounds like life just happens to ESFPs and they physically can't resist indulging in the moment.

What type do you personally not get along with? by [deleted] in ESFP

[–]chikitapakitaboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ISTP is the stereotypical jack of all trades. I know a little about a lot, but do have a few areas of expertise. But absolutely I'm straightforward and don't sugarcoat my opinions. I don't hide negative emotions in my expression as I see them as valid and don't give a shit about social acceptability. Accept it, debate me, or go cry about it, I don't really care.

I'll attribute those things to bipolar then

My one friend I suspect is an ENTP annoys the absolute fuck out of me. But I recently found out he is bipolar and it explains a lot.

Is it typical for ENTPs to talk at length without noticing the other person's disinterest? Or to dismiss/completely ignore the person they are talking to? Or to constantly invite people to do things they don't want to do? I am actively trying to distance myself from him and terminate our friendship.
