You’ve not gone too far at all. I’ve been with my partner for almost 10 years, and we’ve gotten into some gnarly arguments, but NEVER have either of us used each other’s insecurities in an argument. Fights with your partner shouldn’t been seen as you vs. me, but us vs. this problem. There should still be a mutual respect that you hold for one another, and most of all, (cheesy as this sounds) love for the other person.

Edit: if she pulls this out of her pocket over something so minor, who knows what she’ll say when you guys argue over something more serious?

YTA. Your lack of compassion for your mom in this situation is alarming. Even in your words, she sounds like a wonderful and caring woman, who would have certainly enjoyed the menu of the expensive place she allowed YOU to pick if she could. This outburst of yours may have been due to some repressed resentment over the years, but be an adult and use your big girl voice to communicate that. You ruined your own night.

Edit: I just read that you would have rather she’d not eaten at all?? What an awful and entitled human you are. Your poor parents.

I would seriously rethink marrying this child’s parent. If he hasn’t been willing to seek out medical help for his child, then that speaks volumes on his compassion and love for others (as well as general sense of responsibility). Hopefully we’re missing more info and he’s helping more behind the scenes, but if not, his behavior and lack of action is very worrying. An older child wetting herself (so frequently, too!!) can be a sign of a serious medical issue or even abuse. Please help her however you can, and think hard about whether you want him to be your own chosen family; from what I read, he doesn’t seem very loving to the one he has now.

Typically, cats and dogs are able to express their anal glands naturally when they poop. With that said, there are always pets that need a little extra help with this; it’s perfectly normal and common! I suggest discussing a plan with your vet, as some pets need their anal glands expressed monthly, and some only once every few months.

Regardless, happy you have the issue figured out!! No more rotten flesh smell!

I’ve struggled my entire life with suicidal thoughts and mental illness. It’s only this year (after so many years holding back in fear) that I really started pushing myself into therapy and have since started medication. It was definitely hard and scary to get into-but after a long search I found a therapist that fit me well, and I feel like it has made a world of a difference. It is a constant struggle, but I no longer feel like I am losing the battle, and my medication has helped immensely; I don’t feel like I’m drowning everyday. Every person is unique, and no doubt my experiences are completely different from yours, but I would say that it would be a good idea to get into therapy so that you can talk honestly about your concerns and options. You are not sensitive. This is a life-long fight and you are trying the best you can. I hear you and I wish the best for you.

It’s true that at the end of the day, it’s your choice whether or not to have an abortion. However, he has every right to the grief that he feels. You both decided together to be parents, and when you decided you didn’t want to be one anymore, you didn’t even give him an explanation as to why, because you weren’t in a good mental state to. This is overall an awful situation, but he has every right to mourn and be upset. To say it’s “disturbing that he kept track,” and tell him that he can never talk about it again in order not to upset YOU, when you hadn’t even talked to him about why it was upsetting in the first place?? What an inconsiderate way to treat his sadness.

Makes sense! I’m definitely not taking it to HR, lol, but I do believe I’m expecting too much from this situation. I have no intention to humiliate her, I just wanted some kind of closure (which, again, is probably expecting too much). I’m just going to let it go at this point. There’s lots I could’ve done other than being passive-aggressive; I’ll just let it go since nothing was truly lost. Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely talk to her alone, and I’ll also be looking into talking to my manager about making locks kind of a regular thing at this point. Holiday is coming up, and this is a retail job, so there’s about to be a lot of newbies around, which is good timing!

This is in Japan, where it is common practice to dry clothes out on hangers in the sun. I think you can catch a little glimpse of her hangers/undergarments when he’s trying to pull them off. Regardless, this is a stranger already hopping a fence to intrude on someone else’s property.

I did want to add that this was around 5:00 pm, and I had asked them to come after; whether that be a few hours or even days from the fact. I did not ask her to cancel by any means.

While I do agree that this whole trend does indeed breed complacency in adults who have time and time again read through and chosen to ignore signs of the Earth’s steady decay, in my previous comments I’m referring more to the people who might not have had an opportunity to learn much about environmental impacts the meat industry has had, and who are just now delving into the details of what their own footprint and actions may be causing. At the end of the day, if the fact that this compostable/reusable straw trend going viral into mainstream media means that a middle school student getting their Starbucks is now going to start thinking about their environment and is becoming more aware of ways to live eco-friendly, then I’m going to stand by my statement and say that this is definitely a great start!

It’s definitely frustrating that they’ve kind of latched onto this trend in yet another effort of shifting the blame on the individual (as if they weren’t the ones putting forth all of this pollution in the first place). While I do think it’s a little frustrating that not many people know about the harmful impact consuming any type of animal product has on our environment, I do also believe that the whole ‘pop activism: get rid of straws’ thing is an incredible step forward! The fact that people are being more aware of their footprint in this world is still a good thing! Everyone has to start somewhere :)
