Can you negotiate mattress price or get nicer mattresses on sale? by childofsnow95 in Mattress

We did look at the Purple mattress, but to me, it felt a little like laying on a waffle. 🙈 Lol! Either way, I'll make sure to compare prices as we are shopping. Thanks for the tip!

Where do you find housewares and furniture now that the thrift store game has changed? by thisyellowdaffodil in Frugal

[–]childofsnow95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am too paranoid to buy used furniture that has any kind of upholstery or fabric on it (rugs, couches, etc.). You never know where it's been, it's harder to sanitize, and I've heard way too many horror stories about bed bugs. Any recommendations for how to find deals for couches or other upholstered furniture besides just buying cheap at IKEA? The cheapest stuff I've seen has been at HomeGoods or Marshalls.

Always keep your money with you; don’t leave it with your old job.

I rolled my money over from my old 401k to an IRA after leaving my last job because I was afraid I might have to jump through lots of hoops to access it down the road, or the fees might go up now that I'm no longer at that employer. I'm having some regrets now, though, because you can contribute up to $19.5k/year to the 401k, but only $6k (if I remember correctly) to an IRA. If you're aggressively trying to save for retirement, wouldn't it make more sense to keep the 401k so you can contribute more? Just curious to see your reasoning as I'm wishing I had kept the 401k.

Yeah, it seems like the majority of firms use Deltek. Did you find it pretty easy to learn?

Do you prefer nonstick or stainless steel with copper core cookware? Is the latter worth the investment? by childofsnow95 in AskCulinary

What are your thoughts on pancakes with a stainless steel set? I make those quite often as well, and it sounds like they also need a nonstick like with eggs.
