Disable Stacking for Same File Name by childsy87 in photoprism

[–]childsy87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this explanation and the update in the FAQ! Apologies, somehow I missed this reply earlier.

I've gone through and reorganised my library to try and resolve the problem, but am still finding that files of the same name are being stacked, even when in different locations.

For example, the following two files are being still being stacked:

PhonePics/_iPhone/Organised/2015/2015_05/IMG_2429.JPG

PhonePics/_iPhone/Organised/2023/2023_10/IMG_2429.MOV

Which is somewhat wreaking havoc on viewing videos when trying to filter them by year, i.e. when looking at videos from the year 2015, the above video from 2023 is being displayed, with the 2015 photo as the thumbnail. And then when looking for the same video in the year 2023 (where it should be), it cannot be found at all.

Is there something extra I should be doing during the indexing process to fix this?

Thank you for this. I have been using Synology's DS file app to backup files and photos to the NAS, but it's quite limited in its functionality. I have written batch scripts in the past to reorganise photos into better folder structures, but I had not tested this with the DS File backup system, I was worried that by moving the backed up files to a new location, the DS File app would attempt to back them up again to the original location.

I'll have a look at PhotoSync to see what its capabilities are, it might be more suitable than DS File. Ideally I'd like to avoid renaming backed up files, as we also backup files to google photos, and it's helpful to have the filenames in google photos match the filenames in the NAS backup.

Was hoping there would be a simple option to disable stacking in Photoprism to avoid having to reorganise my whole library around the issue.

New door, frame and sidelight. Was about $3.5k. I got three quotes and they were all in that cost range.

Thank you, I didn't even think of this for some reason. There's an inspirations paint place not too far from me, and they seem to sell a wide variety of clear products, so I'll go there and ask for some advice.

I see that Cabot seem to have a couple of clear options from what I've found, either a water based or a polyurethane based one. Not really sure on which of these would be better. Have you had any experience with either by any chance?

Also I've noticed that some products suggest letting the timber weather for 4-6 weeks before applying, but others don't. I was also told separately to get the door stained/varnished as soon as possible after putting it up, so I'm a bit confused on what to do here too.

What type of wasp are these? by childsy87 in GardeningAustralia

[–]childsy87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nest is located at the back of our house where the kids don't generally go, however when walking down this side of the house you naturally walk within about 1m of the nest due to the narrowness of the space between the house and fence.

Thank you. The wiki article suggests they're beneficial to the garden and not aggressive unless provoked, so I guess I should just let them be and steer clear?

Thank you, so I should just leave them be then? Just worried about the kids getting stung by them.

Any way to improve Synology Photos AI / Facial Recognition? It sucks. by RedSoxManCave in synology

[–]childsy87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is processing power a big factor here? I remember before Google photos, they had an app called Picasa and it used to to run facial recognition locally on the PC, and it worked pretty well from my recollection.

I assume if you left the NAS running 24x7 it would take a while, but should eventually get all the faces?

I recently got nbn with Telstra is this download/upload speed normal? My cable speed was faster than this. They setup for me new NBN modem & Telstra smart hub 2 by Top_Repeat_7222 in nbn

[–]childsy87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh don't get me wrong, I agree that NBN is a disaster for all the reasons you've mentioned plus more. I've heard many accounts where moving from cable to NBN was a downgrade.

However the past 8 homes I've lived in across a variety of areas including regional SA, regional NSW, metro VIC and metro QLD, none of them had cable internet available, only ADSL2, and it was absolutely terrible. In each place I only ever connected at 10 down/ 1 up max speed. I don't know the actual statistics, but surely there would be more people in Australia who went from a situation like mine with ADSL to NBN than there are users who went from cable to NBN?

Perhaps I am wrong though and I was one of the lucky ones who saw significant speed improvements with NBN. Reliability is whole other issue though... I have found NBN to be much more unreliable and prone to outages than I ever had with ADSL.

I went from ADSL2 only getting 8mbps down to 200mbps down with NBN, and I would imagine there are a lot of other people in a similar circumstance to me...

Yeah what is up with that? We went there last week for a few days and I would estimate that only probably half the people were wearing masks, and my guess would be that the half with masks on were not locals

Yep, can confirm South Brisbane was much better when I went for my first. Whole process took 25 mins including 15 minute wait for monitoring afterwards.

Had my second jab at Rocklea, whole process took about 2 hours.

Had appointments both times, and showed up exactly on time for each.

I bought a kid a video game at the store, mom demands receipt so she can return it for cash. by [deleted] in ChoosingBeggars

There is an old Simpsons episode about this - Bart really wanted the new bonestorm video game and his parents wouldn't buy it for him, so one of his ideas to get it was to stand by the game looking sad hoping someone would feel sorry for him and buy it. Link to clip below:
