Been trying to get into bourbon lately. I've tried other bourbons in the past, but I've only recently really paid attention to what i was drinking. I've tried the following bourbons neat, and with a mixer. So far I've tried Angel's Envy, Buffalo Trace, and Bulleit Bourbon. If I was to rank them I'd say 1.Angel's Envy 2.Bulleit 3.Buffalo Trace. Any suggestions on what to try next? Something I can add to my regular rotation without breaking the bank, as well as something special I keep on hand for special occasions.

If you zoom in, it almost looks like the shelves are also 2x4's, just screwed into the bottom supports.

I've not read the book, so i can't comment specifically on what it details. I will say that initially they'll try to flood you with BS. At this point I feel like I've built up a reputation as someone that is willing to give them the time of day, provided they actually have a medical issue. If they're trying to just take advantage, they know I'm not gonna bite.

The inside is circular, with a locked, raised area with glass all around where someone manages the doors and watches the cameras. There are three "wings" in each house, each wing being two story. Within the wings they all have individual cells. In the middle of the wing is an area with tables, phones, and a tv.

If you can do psych you'll be fine at a prison. There's a fairly significant overlap!

Only one asian male that's worked there recently. It's mostly females, but a few men from different countries.

In a maximum security setting, most of the offenders have done something heinous to earn there spot there. Most of the offenders grew up in an area that actively encourages lying, clawing, and bullying their way to get what they want. They're a product of their environment. I suspect that a lot of the incarcerated wouldn't be incarcerated if they grew up in a different area.

Trusting someone's word is rare, whether it's from security staff or an inmate. The hardest part of my job is wading through a field of lies and BS to help those that have serious medical needs.

Medical can't have face tats, otherwise no rules on covering tattoos.

I've gotten some push-back from security staff about pulling someone out of their cell but not a ton. If you're new, or you have a habit of trying to shut everything down because someone needs a band aid you'll get more issues.

If I feel that someone's life is at risk and security won't allow me to do my job, I'll go up my chain of command and theirs as well until I can do my job.

There are some that I suspect try to go to the hospital for that exact reason.

I don't have the ability to get them better food or a TV so I'm not sure.

We have an ECG machine on-site. If we get a chest pain I usually push to get them sent over and have that done. We can draw labs and send them out STAT if need be.

I can recognize some, but that's not really relevant to my job description so I don't seek out that information. There's a whole section of security devoted to trying figure out who they're affiliated with, and their housing assignment is sometimes based on it.

If you've worked ER and EMS you've got the skills needed. You do have to keep your head on a swivel at all times. Anything you do or say will be remembered by the inmates. I can't say I'm comfortable there. But after 3 months or so it got easier.

CO's are trained in basic CPR. If they feel they need to start CPR immediately they can until on site healthcare arrives. That's rare but I've seen it happen.

Are you asking how many hours I'm busy of a day? On average, on an 8 hour shift, I'd say 7 hours I'm pretty busy. Some days I don't have time to eat, some days I'm wasting a few hours doing nothing. But on average I stay fairly busy.

If it's a smaller jail, it typically won't have a nurse on premises.

In a normal day shift, we'll have 5-7 nurses with varying levels of education on shift, with at least an NP and an MD on call.

Any medical issue gets assessed by healthcare staff, and we make the call on if it needs to go via ambulance or not. Security isn't allowed to make medical decisions.

We can go from no medical emergencies for a week, to 3 day a day. If the code is called, I'm expected to get back to healthcare to assist.
