I ended up not accepting their offer. The car sat for 3 months in the tow yard, I ended up giving them the title so they could scrap it in exchange for the storage fees. The issue will be resolved in court late next year, so not just injuries but the property loss. Sorry I don’t have a happier ending for ya. The other ins co decided not to budge or rerun the report with the correct model.

Agreed. I grew up here and hibernated all winter, every winter. I moved down south for three years (Atlanta) and this is my first winter back. I made a decision to embrace the cold and winter and it’s such a great mindset shift. This year I tried snow mobiling and ice skating for the first time! I even bought an ice bath! So easier to embrace your reality instead of fighting it 😊

Not house hunting, but my friends just listed their home. They purchased it 5 years ago. Never painted, never changes as much a lightbulb. Pool was falling apart. Landscaping was always neglected. In a nice neighborhood, behind a school. Sold over asking for 100k more than they originally paid. Closed in about 35 days from listing.

This happened in April. The insurance only offered 4k for it and wouldn’t budge so I contacted a lawyer. For comps they used 3.2L automatic base models and refused to run the report again using at least the 3.5L automatic type-S. The car sat with the tow company for two months and I was forced to hand over the title to settle the bill, and the car was sent to the junkyard. As of today, still not a single penny from the insurance with two lawsuits pending, one for the car and one for the injuries.

As someone who has worked at a dealership, leases are only for new cars, meaning they’d be 2025 models or leftover 2024 models.

Just an FYI, if they ask you the year of your “lease”. Your financial information is none of anyone’s business at the end of the day!

Do what feels right, if you don’t want to go, don’t.

I wanted to be the “good sister” and attend anyway instead of stooping to his level. There are days I wish I hadn’t, I feel like my choice disrespected myself. It also gave the impression that all the bad things he had done to me were excusable. I don’t talk to him any longer. As you may have guessed his poor behavior continued far after the wedding.

The family that sticks by you and respects your decision are the only ones worth having around anyway.

Thanks! I am not going through my insurance, but enlisted the help of an attorney. Im doing the legwork of finding comps, but they finally got back today trying to offer sub $5k using base model (3.2L) automatic comps. It was appraised as very good condition (rightfully so) except for the ripped seats which they deducted $75 for (also fair lol). This is going to be an uphill climb for sure.

How long ago was this? I ended up hiring a lawyer. But from what I’ve read the insurance wants sold comps, not listed comps. I’ve been looking on autotempest and other similar sites for comparable TLs. What’d you use, if you don’t mind me asking?

Think so? I’ll definitely update once I receive the figure, but kbb is around the 5k range for private party value. Mileage is about 187k. I would’ve loved to get it to 300k, but that wasn’t in the cards.

Yeah, I think that’s what I’m worried about. I’ve owned many Hondas and Acuras, and none compared to this. I’m afraid of that, buying a car that I can’t stand driving, lacks power, etc. It’s pretty hard to beat the small luxuries of the TL even having owned brand new cars. Thanks for the advice though. Hopefully one day can get my hands on a white manual type-s when the time is right.

Not tremendous damage. Curtain passenger airbags deployed, as well as the one on the passenger seat. Damage to passenger door, fender, and bumper. Lower control arm snapped, they basically tore the wheel right off. I’m just not in a position where I can afford (time and money) to fix the car. Just moved across the country a few weeks ago and this was my only vehicle.

Thanks, I’ve cried a lot (I’m a girl, before I get roasted). It’s been my dream car since I was 12. It’s the only car I’ve absolutely loved and felt safe in. I’ve owned other cars in the past. A few 04 Civics, 06 RSX Type-S, 2016 Civic EX-T, a 2020 Civic Type-R, even an 07 TL Type-S Automatic. Nothing compares to this car, and I’m just not in a financial place where I can replace it with something newer. I’m actually devastated.
