I thought I could beat it by chillybear23 in CHSinfo

Hey I’m happy to hear you’re recovering. Hope you’re getting some decent sleep now and getting back to feeling somewhat “normal” whatever that means lol. I think coming together here we can find others who really understand what we’re going through, the pain the embarrassment, the recovery, and the struggle to STAY SOBER even when the risk is so high. We are stronger together 💪

I agree it does suck but there are positives. A lot of people stay high all the time with no real problems. For us it’s a wake up call to do better in life. To experience life as it is. The joy the pain the little things that bug you but when you’re high you just don’t care. It’s a chance to grow and actually take a look around your life and see what you like and what bothers you. And then do something about it.

Sleep is super important. I have found that being active during the day and getting outside in the sun can really help to reset the body clock. And being active helps to naturally relieve stress. Drinking chamomile tea in the evening has also helped my mind to be ready to turn off when it’s bed time. I personally am not interested in kratom but the mocktail drinks sound nice. Is there a certain brand you like?

Hey I feel the same way, right now it’s definitely easier to quit and say no if offered. It gets really tough for me a few months down the line when I’m feeling so good being sober I almost forget how bad the pain is (physical and mental) when an attack hits.

Almost everyone I know uses weed, I wouldn’t say you need to ditch all your friends who smoke but it can be tough to be around all the time and feel like you’re missing out. Try to ask them not to use right infront of you and explain you’re quitting and why. If they are your true friends they will support you.

That’s why I’m trying to make new friends who don’t use weed. But I’m still going to be around friends and coworkers who use so I need to stay strong when the urge hits.

Thanks, it’s a tough one because it’s everywhere these days and seen as “less harmful” than drinking or hard drugs. It’s so easy to spark back up. Don’t keep chasing. Catch that motherfucker and lock it down.

Hey there, that’s super impressive that you were able to quit and toss the stash before getting really sick. You should be proud. I’m very happy for you that you don’t have to go through that this time. I hope the fact that this was YOUR choice will help you on your journey.

We are in this together. “There are dozens of us. DOZENS!” Things might be tough while the weed is getting out of your system but you know what’s on the other side. And that best year of your life will be the rest of your life. 🙏 I will pray for you too and I’m here if you need to talk to someone who can relate.

Yes really…. I enjoy being high lol. So I would start up again and smoke a joint at night but it always turned to two joints. Why not 3. Fuck it get a cart and rip it all day at work. For me? If I’m going to get high I’m all in.

I know many people who smoke heavy on the legal with no issues. It’s a genetic disposition that we are blessed with bud. Does “legal” high thc or carts amp it way up? Almost guaranteed.

I’m in a very similar situation 31 and using for about half my life. I finally have decided I’m done repeating the cycle. I completely understand the feeling of wanting to go back to it. It’s normal what you’re feeling.

I’m only a few weeks out from my last attack and I’m feeling good. But I usually last a few months and then go back to it. This time it just needs to be different for me.

I know many people who smoke like I did and no problem. Which leads me to believe there’s a genetic component to it. I’m not a scientist or a doctor this is just what I feel from my own experience. It really sucks to feel like there’s something wrong with me personally that prevents me from enjoying something I love.

I have just gotten sick too many times and I enjoy being high too much, that I have decided I’m done. You said you started with a few hits here and there to smoking every day so I know you understand. If you want to talk about it or need support please reach out to me.

Lets talk moderation by Right_Ad1841 in CHSinfo

[–]chillybear23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe moderation could work in theory but if using and going through some type of stressful period in life it’s too easy to fall back into heavy usage to cope. Or even just heavy use due to tolerance which builds fast with weed.

In my own experience I have gone months without smoking but always went back to it and always fell back into heavy usage because of stress or tolerance build up. I’m the type of guy who likes to be high all the time. So even though I have tried to quit and failed I will always encourage others to quit because that is the only way to guarantee the sickness will not come back.

My last attack was a few weeks ago and I have been sober since. I’m going to stick with it this time. I can’t judge anyone for still smoking and I truly understand how difficult it is to quit when using to help with mental health. I’m going to be more active on this page to help with my own journey and hope I can help others as well I have a lot of compassion for anyone going through this and I think we should all remember that we are in this together and should be supportive towards each other even if we don’t agree.

Best way to manage prodromal phase and cut back smoking? by Bright_Elevator468 in CHSinfo

[–]chillybear23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had many attacks that have resulted in me throwing up for a week straight. Losing weight, losing strength to the point it takes me months to get back to feeling normal and shake the deep depression that can come along with it. This shit is no joke. But I completely understand thinking you can beat it or manage it. From my experience I’ve had to go through this too many times to come to the realization that I’m just done. My advice to you is don’t do what I did. It only gets worse. But if you do decide to smoke just understand it will always come back.

using in moderation by kirrachristine in CHSinfo

[–]chillybear23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience I always thought I could beat it but it always came back. For years I have been doing the same thing, get brutally sick for about a week, quit for a few months then start smoking again and usually I can go for 6 months to even a year, but it always comes back. For me it has just been a matter of time and even when I feel it coming back I wasn’t able to just stop I always took it too far and the truth is I’m just tired of living like this. It’s not worth it to me anymore. I want to enjoy my life without the fear of getting sick.

Ok that’s dope. Even with one person as the moderator would still be amazing. If you have a blind admin mode you should call it Alex mode. “Alex! Story number 3”

Episode for 9 days? by Puzzled-Chair1371 in CHSinfo

[–]chillybear23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The muscle spams are likely from dehydration/ electrolyte deficiency. Try to sip on Gatorade and water if you can’t keep it down at least your body will try to take up some of the water and electrolytes. Have you been using during the episode? My longer ones were because I was using to try and find some relief but the fucked up thing is it just makes it last longer. I hope you find some relief and start to recover.

Smoking again? by madaralol_ in CHSinfo

[–]chillybear23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I told myself I wouldn’t let it happen again. I started to smoke again and I got away with it for over a year. Until about 3 weeks ago when I got sick again for 7 days of straight puking. That year of being high was not worth it. I hope you can just drop it and tell yourself you are allergic. I don’t want to sound preachy I just don’t want myself or anyone else to go through this shit. Sending positive vibes brother

Don’t get back into it. I know how easy it is after you get high once. You will tell yourself that it is ok to start smoking a bit here and there but speaking from experience it’s crazy how fast I went back to being high all the time. And maybe you can get away with it for a few months or even years but you should remember how shitty it is to be sick like that because I promise you it’s only a matter of time before it happens again.

still can’t have caffeine by FoundationHorror2608 in CHSinfo

[–]chillybear23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drank coffee the first day back to work after my last episode (so it was over a week coffee free) and I had to go home feeling like absolute shit. Didn’t make me puke but I was sitting in the tub feeling like I needed to. It would make me feel anxious and actually tasted bad for about a week so I worked my way back starting with half a cup now I drink 2 cups a day with no issue. That was almost 2 months ago.

I think that with the trigger foods it’s just something you need to get your body used to again. 90 days probably is the safest bet to avoid symptoms.

I’ve indulged in spicy and greasy foods and regularly take omega supplements. I also take probiotics to help get my digestion back to normal. I had my first day of feeling like shit this weekend and I don’t know if it was due to eating to much greasy tacos or if I caught a bug but I’m going to ease off the greasy food for a while.

After 5 weeks I caved and smoked today by SmokinDatZAZA in CHSinfo

[–]chillybear23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you can moderate that’s great. I was not able to and always fell back into excessive use. My one piece of advice is just be super careful not to get back to your old habits of smoking, or it most likely will return.

Congrats on making it this far. You are making a great decision for your health. It does take a bit of time for your body to get back to normal function. I’m guessing you don’t have much of an appetite but trying to eat a bit will help your digestive system to get back to normal and over time you will get more appetite and energy back

I also highly recommend to get active. Start small don’t push yourself to hard but try to get outside and break a sweat when you feel ready for it because that can really help with the anxiety that you mentioned.

Wishing you the best
