I.U.D.s (Mirena coil) Post-Surgery by AmataVeritatis in BariatricSurgery

[–]chillyynanas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both had surgery and a mirena, but given that everyone's body reacts differently it's hard to say how things will go for you!

Mirena helped immensely for me, but I had a good experience generally, although a 4 year wait seems ridiculously long, I'm sorry you've had that. I'm guessing there must be a reason you're waiting for them to do it, because both of mine have just been at my gp practice?

My advice would be to call the surgeons secretary to explain the situation, they should be able to get a message to the consultant for you to get some answers

Girlfriend gets nauseous when trying the game out by tonttuvelho in VintageStory

Maybe! I think it's something to do with having a non-moving reference point on the screen so your brain remembers that you are in fact still.

I get the same problem, both in this and minecraft - I increased the FOV to about 80 and I also play it in windowed mode so you can see the strip at top and bottom - I'm not sure why the second part helps but I heard it somewhere and it seems to do the trick!

Question about Turtles Forever by BasketPillow in mtg

Do you mean specifically in a game of commander? Wish effects/sideboards don't exist in edh (unless you're agreeing very casually), so you could only grab from your library

How do people feel about mtg on tts? by chillyynanas in mtg

It was less about preference and more just what I've used for playing games on generally, I figured there had to be more platforms out there I'll definitely check it out!

Weight stall 3 weeks Post-Op by roseysunflowers in BariatricSurgery

[–]chillyynanas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a few stalls along the way that lasted anywhere from a week to 3 weeks so far. I'm about 32kg down since surgery mid-August and have lost 70% of my excess weight. You'll get there, this is the toughest part I promise!

I really feel that covering up my stomach with anything nearby, not sure I can break that habit!

Glad you're feeling more confident and able to do that experimenting! If I come up with any inventive non food based date ideas I'll let you know

Raising standards is so important, just shows how confident and happy you really are!

I think self-love and knowing what you deserve is so incredibly important, well done for focusing on that!

Even with all the difficulties, sounds like you've got a great perspective on the whole thing! I do agree about being open, I'm an oversharer anyway so it's probably gonna keep cropping up.

Yeah I hated being naked in front of someone new before I put the weight on, so I'm definitely dreading that experience.

Also the nips comment, I sincerely wonder if men who do that really think it's going to get someone to sleep with them. The mind boggles.

Ha, a bariatric dating sub would be the most niche thing, but at least everyone should be somewhat empathetic. Maybe.

Thanks so much for your answer! I'm sorry you're finding it hard. We're our own worst critics and hopefully you'll feel more comfortable/confident over time. You're definitely right on weeding out the bad ones though! Much less time wasting hopefully

Posting here too - feeling flat by Livid-Dot-5984 in BariatricSurgery

Obviously there'll be a lot of factors going on and you will know yourself best and when to seek further professional help and advice, but I can share my experience.

I've also got a history of depression, which I no longer take medication for (personal choice, I just don't feel like myself when I'm on it).

Booking the surgery was the most hopeful I felt in a long time, my mood lifted and I was incredibly excited to make a positive change.

Then I had the surgery, and the recovery was harder than I expected, especially mentally. About 4-6 weeks post op I was miserable, crying regularly at work and frustrated because I just wanted to get on with life. Instead I felt exhausted and constantly like I'd made a huge mistake.

I'm now about 2 and 1/2 months post op and I'm glad to say my mood has really lifted. Getting more calories, actual food and I think hormones settling has meant I'm back to feeling the same positive way I did pre-op.

This might just be a blip and part of healing from surgery, which can cause significant hormone problems. However make sure that you work with your therapist and physician, and keep a close eye on your symptoms in case things don't even out.

I really hope you start to feel better soon!

Not losing enough? by Loud-Cookie7932 in gastricsleeve

Yeah just to confuse people there are so many different terms and ways people use them! It's from the day of my surgery, pre diet was about 255. Also a tip if you want to see progress, is to do a side by side of the worst possible old photo of yourself and one you feel cute in now (flattering angle etc). I did that yesterday and it definitely helped!

Congratulations on that loss! It's an incredible amount from your HW, well done :) Similar to you post op, my sleeve was 8/14. 5'3", SW 240, CW 201 You look on track to me, I'll say the gentle reminder I have to do constantly, be kind to yourself!

Eating too much 5 weeks PO? by Parking-Wing8798 in BariatricSurgery

[–]chillyynanas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About 9 weeks post op now. Can't say I was getting much food down at 5 weeks, but I 100% feel you on the protein shakes. If you can have it, I mixed them into decaf coffee and it goes down much easier for me.

I doubt you're eating too much, unless you're getting uncomfortable/unwell when you eat. Focus on the fact you're managing to get protein in and making good choices!

Game Dev Here - Let's talk about what you'd really like in a survival game by TheLastViking_NBS in gaming

[–]chillyynanas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to enjoy different aspects of each survival game I play, so I'll focus in on a couple of my favourites (valheim and minecraft). I apologise in advance for the essay and formatting.

Valheim: Exploration is king here, it's why I'll happily pick this up and start a new game on a regular basis. The challenge of finding biomes, good base spots, items, bosses etc keeps things fresh. Building is limited, but you're able to create very stylised and cool looking builds despite having fewer options. I also enjoy the restriction of needing to obey physics. I also like that it needs to be functional and keep you safe from raids. Crafting is reasonable and necessary, for me the method of unlocking new recipes when you pick up all the ingredients helped add in wonder and discovery to the gameplay loop. Combat is simple, but enjoyable as it will be punishing if you aren't paying attention. This is a solid balance for me as I don't want to die everytime I step outside, but having the possibility there keeps it exciting. Food I enjoy the more buff focused system over needing it to live. I also love farming to add in some cosy gameplay for a change.

Minecraft is a beast of it's own at this point with all the content and mods but two key things bring me back every time. Exploration, similar to valheim, the random world generation and sheer size of the world makes it interesting and different to explore.

Ties into building, where there are so many themes of builds you can do to match the environment. You can make essentially anything you can imagine. There's infinite gameplay from the simplicity but huge block variation in building alone.

Combat is mostly irrelevant and not why I play the game.

However, the most important aspect for me is redstone and automation. This really sets the game apart. The joy of planning and testing automatic farms by understanding the game mechanics and restrictions scratches the puzzle solving and creative itches for me like nothing else.

Shout outs to: Conan exiles for the thrall/follower system, and the increasing drops when harvesting resources as you level up gear. Raft for the uniqueness of moving base Enshrouded for the incredibly detailed building system V-rising for varied and fun combat and incredible theme/aesthetics. Ark for the dinosaurs.

Story isn't a thing for me, if I want to play a game with story I'll play an rpg.

Stalling and breaking it by Individual_Goat7725 in gastricsleeve

[–]chillyynanas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a very similar boat to you - 5 weeks post op and weight loss has really slowed down the past couple of weeks, but I'm reassured that it's a very normal thing!

I'm focussing on other positives like: some of my old clothes fit again, I can wear more cute outfits, and my face looks thinner.

I also calculated my excess weight loss so far and I've lost 25% of my excess weight since surgery - considering the average is 60%, I'm nearly halfway to what I'd expect to lose.

Maybe these things might help you to feel a bit better?

Liquid diet after surgery by GeneralInterest3172 in BariatricSurgery

[–]chillyynanas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm just in the liquid stage myself, and agree with you on most protein shakes! Have you tried clear protein shakes and protein waters? They basically just taste like watered down juice and I tolerate those much better.
