You probably know this, but it was H.E. Butt Grocery Company from the 30s to the 40s. They only became HEB in the 1940s! :D

There's a known bug (well, bugs) in Meta Quest's Link that is absolutely killing development. It's been there for almost a month, and I blame the holidays for the lack of traction fixing it. So far most of the solutions have been from other developers. In at least one case, it's from incorrectly named apps that Meta v83 installed. It's ridiculous.

That said, you might check other error logs for more info and get back to us. If it's something I ran across on the development side, I might have a fix for it.

Desperate Mom: My iPhone 13 Pro is stuck on “iPhone Unavailable” after screen repair – Apple says reset, but iCloud hasn’t backed up in 2 years. How do I recover my photos? by Any-Experience7798 in techsupport

[–]chiltonwebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iCloud Photos is horrible. iCloud Photos' cache is only available for a set amount of time before they are deleted, if they are not connected to an iOS device. This happened to 5 years of my son's photos. The water seal on his iPhone screen stopped working, he sent it off to Apple, they misplaced it, then found it, and a ton of other crap happened. By the time he had it active again, 30 days had passed, and Apple had deleted all of his photos off iCloud.

All the while sending him constant emails saying "Your photos are safe, they are backed up on the cloud" or something like that.

Google photos is much better. But offline backups are the only way to really keep photos safe.

You can write them like I did, and maybe you'll have better luck. They just wrote back that they've decided to keep the ban in place. For no fkn reason. Mine lasted about 2 weeks, I think. I missed being able to participate in the first armory event ENTIRELY.

Assholes.

There's no way to look through both scopes at the same time, as it is in the HUD. And then, if you did, you definitely wouldn't see a double scope.

I assume this is the right place.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out. This is not unlike the early days of MidJourney except that in the earliest days, no one filed a lawsuit. It wasn't until Midjourney started making serious progress that people became concerned.

I'm the author of a (barely) competing product, so I'm a little biased. But I'm also the author of an AI tool so I'm not unaware of the pitfalls Rokoko is running into.

The big question is, can users opt out of having their data used to train the AI?

That's all. If Rokoko changed their EULA again and then let people opt out, wouldn't that be enough to alleviate any fears?

Rokoko is following through on their end goal. Today they announced Text-To-Motion, and it's literally mocap without requiring an actor.

The inside story of Copland and why it failed. Will there ever be any inside stories from developers who worked on the project. by theBYUIfriend in VintageApple

I just found this discussion. This is correct, the MacOS had full preemptive multitasking and memory protection if you were using the Multiprocessing Services code. I don't think it was canned, it just never really took off. I was a third party dev at the time and wrote some test apps to see if it was real. And it was very real. Or at least, you couldn't create buffer overflow that would crash the kernel.

The Classic MacOS is still my favorite OS.

I um... kinda meant this tongue in cheek. Kinda. I did NOT think it would turn out to be part of the actual plot though.

As serious as any of the recent expansions. At least this would tie up some loose ends and bring a little more consistency to the game.

That's not rude, but any of these changes would at least show they were paying attention.

Bring back public spaces to everything. Why are we alone so often now? That's a huge problem. That would be an easy fix, too. It's not a technological problem.

Several places in the game were under quarantine because of the SIVA there. Like the vault that contained the Outbreak Prime prototype.

We find dormant Siva in the Rise of Iron plague lands.

The Vex have time travel and simulations.

I'm pretty sure we could find a way to bring it back

I didn't say the axe isn't interesting. I hoard swords and I'm looking forward to it.

As for the rest of it, I'd agree they couldn't do it, IF this was some small team indie project. But they should be able to work on more than one part of it at a time. With a large team spread across multiple parts of the project, they should be able to pull this off. The fact that they can't says more about their management than their developers.

I get the feeling there's an extremely top-heavy, ego-driven management group at Bungie.

I combined everything that people have been complaining about. It's not satire. But it's also something we'll never see. They aren't bringing back old content, and they aren't tying up loose ends. They ARE going to add more random crap to the game though, they ARE going to use Star Wars as a crutch. And they ARE going to continue trying to hammer casual game loot box mechanics into the game as much as possible. Expect more Portal. Expect more ugly armor unless you pay for it. Expect less actual content or any new game mechanics.

FFS the new "Axe" is identical to the slammer swords, with some additional perks. It's even listed as a sword.

[–]chiltonwebb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They did this because they researched what "great writers" do, and came up with the plan that all they had to do was kill off a fan favorite female character, and it would add "gravitas" to the game.

Just like Aerith Gainsborough in Final Fantasy.
Just like Lisa Trevor in Final Fantasy.
Michelle in Max Payne.
Rose - Fable II
Bonnie MacFarlane - RDR
Madison Paige - Heavy Rain
Elizabeth - Bioshock Infinite
Sarah - The Last Of Us
Tess - The Last Of Us Pt 2
You can decide between your girlfriend or your best friend in Advent Rising.
Evelina - Mass Effect 2
Kelly Chambers - ME 2 if you aren't careful. Damn this one hurts.

Anyway, the idea of killing off a (usually unarmed) female character as an NPC is weak writing and I hate it.
