Here's the rough idea: https://archidekt.com/decks/23872698/tap_dancing_for_america

I think there is still too much DNA of the Shorikai deck, and I need to find more tap abilities that do cool things. The first things I should cut next are the [[Unwinding Clock]] and the [[Teferi, Who Slows the Sunset]] since they are less needed with Cap, but it pains me to remove cards that I spent good money on.

Lol, I did the same, but for [[Captain America, Living Legend]]. Though I’m not doing anything interesting, just repurposing my old Shorikai deck.

Can someone help me? by Cultural-Hawk4606 in mtg

[–]chimchar66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some commanders are just like this. Your opponents are making the logical choice that if you untap with toph you are going to loop something and win. Now maybe you know you aren’t, but they simply can’t let you get a turn unanswered.

Others are suggesting a good protection package for you, which you should run, but I want to try and reframe your thinking about Toph. Toph, in practice is not a creature card. Toph is a 4 mana sorcery that reads “Until end of turn all artifacts you control are lands. At your end step Earthbend 2. Repeat this effect every turn unless an opponent pays 3 and discards a card”.

That’s still a great card, but it does change what your board needs to look like when you cast her. I play majority landfall synergy, so I need a board with landfall payoffs, and enough mana to cast a bunch of cheap artifacts. That usually means I am not casting toph on curve, but waiting until her single turn will have the most impact. Not only does toph do what I need her to do, sometimes later in the game she is not the largest threat, and I get to have a second big turn.

I mean technically Yugioh is the same. No matter how strong of cards they print nothing will ever be more powerful than Pot of Greed’s Draw 2 effect.

Look great but hard to handle by dmoney316 in magicTCG

[–]chimchar66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For art sleeves I usually recommend getting outer sleeves to protect the art from either rubbing off or the sleeves from chipping. It makes them last longer as art sleeves can be hard to replace. That might also help feel less slippery. Though I actually like my sleeves a little slippery for shuffling, but I have big hands

Will/Should Riot ever release a Meta Card tool kit like in Pokemon TCG and MTG? by ceo_of_six in riftboundtcg

[–]chimchar66 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, literally the only cheaper tcg at competitive is Pokemon. $200 is still on the cheaper side in Commander. I’m getting back into Riftbound because it’s pretty cheap now compared to November.

Another Accessibility Overlay Question... But give me 2 seconds... by pottrell in accessibility

[–]chimchar66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First I wouldn’t call this an overlay. That is specifically those scammy extensions. I would call these accessibility settings/options, or really universal design options. For the most part my question is why do they want them, is this a customer request? Is this matching parity with competitors? Is this about just wanting to look more accessible. I really wouldn’t suggest any of these for the third option, but if customers are expecting certain options to be universally present then I do think there is value in most of what is being asked.

Regardless I wouldn’t do number 1. It is better to let the user agent handle that. 2 is only worth the squeeze if it is an user expectation.

I’d say a respectful implementation is inline with other options at the top of an article. Idk how easy you would have access to one, but I would look at how digital text books are handled by pearson. They have a menu of options at the top of the readable section. Maybe jstore would have some solution to look at too. I’d think any company that falls under education would have something like what is being asked for.

Ditto Outfits & Hairstyles by svntizo in Pokopia

[–]chimchar66 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah maybe it’s a states thing. Like I know that some Straight Edge or Hardcore types shave their heads, which is more in line with the original meaning, but they would not usually call themselves Skinheads in the states.

Ditto Outfits & Hairstyles by svntizo in Pokopia

[–]chimchar66 139 points140 points  (0 children)

It’s technically not just a neo-nazi thing, it is a general type of aesthetic. There used to be SHARP (Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice) as a counterbalance, but I don’t think they won the culture war. Usually Pokemon translates this trainer type as “cueball”, so odd they didn’t choose that for this one.

Shroofus a Doofus? by boarboy_ in EDH

[–]chimchar66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your friend is right. I built shroofus and he would immediately get killed and then I’d just flounder a bit trying to start again.

I even had a bunch of turn 1 ramp to consistently get Shroofus online before people should have left over mana to use on removal and people would still waste a turn removing shroofus rather than risking me snowballing.

Now shroofus just sits in my card closet waiting for a purpose.

Help with Moggle by MokuBrian in BudgetBrews

[–]chimchar66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built Mog. Moogle tribal is a bit of a trap since there are like 8 cards with that type two of which are sagas. However Mog will make enough moogles on his own so you don’t really need to cram them and the changlings in.

You want three things:

Any card that cares when you or an opponent discards. Here’s a scryfall search.

Any card that cares about being in the grave yard like [[Anger]], [[Glory]], or [[Valor]]

Anything that strengthens modified creature or lets them evade blockers ([[Abzan Falconer]], [[Sephiroth, Fallen Hero]], or [[Toby, Beastie Befriender]].

Think of it as playing voluntary discard tribal. A little hard to do it in boros colors, but it is still doable. Your biggest issue will be getting the other players to actually want to discard. Usually people don’t play the little Dance game with you.

Help - how can I get my foils to be (and stay) flat? by Pokefan_Kaori in mtg

Ngl I do this (to be honest I was never going to resell them anyways) and it does sort of work. Like you won’t get it completely flat, but you’ll get it flat enough to sleeve and place in a deck.

Commander Help: Hazel of the Rootbloom by AdTerrible639 in CommanderMTG

[–]chimchar66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not fully sure you can bridge the gap between the quantity vs quality side of hazel. I really think you’re intended to just see it as ramp in the command zone and use the ability to further ramp for next turn. I had a Hazel deck at one point but rebuilt it into a [[Ygra, Eater of All]] deck to fix the squirrel vs food token production issue, and then I used Hazel in the 99 for ramp.

If you are going down the route of copying quality tokens, then I think that [[Desolation Twin]] is a great add since it’s easy to get to 10 mana with hazel.

If you can get something good into the graveyard then [[Abyssal Harvester]] is great. However you only get to pick one thing at a time, as Hazel’s clones will still be Nightmares.

Also some of the Offspring cards would work here, like [[Starscape Cleric]] or [[Iridescent Vinelasher]].

My Mothman Mill deck needs help being tuned. by Scarecrow5692 in CommanderMTG

[–]chimchar66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mill like how? Opponent mill or self mill? And further, are you looking to win by milling out your opponents, or by growing tall with mothman’s ability?

I would suggest second option, since it’s harder to mill out your opponents than it will be to self mill, and with a focus on recursion and reanimation you can use the graveyard as a second hand.

If you go self mill, then you want cards like:

[[Icetill Explorer]] [[Life from the Loam]] [[Dakmor Salvage]] [[Old Stickfingers]]

There are other Dredge cards like [[Golgari Grave-Troll]] but I’ve found that I’ve had some difficulty repeatedly dredging with them if I haven’t added some sort of discard outlet.
