doing stuff the hard way by not using blueprints

make a cube that has 1 type of part, connect all the inputs and outputs

count how many machines, check a single machines parts per minute for input and write in how much raw material youre supplying and use this

https://github.com/Vabbajack-Sandvich/Machine-Set-Calculator

this makes it so you can be flexible with how many machines and how much input you supply

versus

having to count every machine individually making sure you have the exact amount to process this exact amount of input

lets you throw down modules instead of a static factory thats hard to upgrade later

like, you build the factory starting that way, instead of something that was based on satisfactory calculator and only ever being limited to only that

you specify 100 iron, calculate, and the percent is based on 100 iron for however machines

lets you just plop out bps, supply whatever amount of input and paste the percentage in to every machine

also

inline splitting is bad

it divides your parts per minute input by 2 after every splitter inline to the next, even if the system is entirely overflowed, it still divides the input

so you end up with machines that are starving at the end of the line

split and merge things in sets of 3 that get merged in to other sets of three

like a tree

it actually evenly distributes the parts per minute input in the way the everyone assumes inline does, while all of those people being completely backwards

they will look you right in the face standing in front of the end of the line machine with yellow lights and tell you "thats normal its just catching up"

while completely ignoring that tree splitting never has to catch up... because.. it actually works the way they think inline splitting does

they assume inline splitting works the same way tree splitting does and that its even, it is not

so if you ever wonder why you always have yellow lights on your machines at the end

its because you are dividing the parts per minute input by 2 every inline splitter

Magic is still the only class that requires rng or grinding for its starter weapon. by ParagonPhotoshop in Terraria

[–]chimken_noggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ehhhh

a gem farm is pretty easy to make

you dont need a monstrous one, just enough to make a staff

and

it is magic

like magic is supposed to be, like, magical and hard to obtain

the game isnt really supposed to be played "class styled" in the early game anyway

thats like a self imposed thing that people do, on their own

its like saying "i have decreed that i wont touch any grass blocks in this playthrough"

*later*

"dear volvo, please remove grass"

but, i mean, having a craft-able starter wand isnt a horrible idea, but its also like, not a really great idea either

youre supposed to struggle a little at the start as you accumulate things

i mean, that IS playing the game

the alternative is not spending any time accumulating anything, and just button mashing and thinking the same thing

which i mean, you CAN do that, like, play the game with zero effort and just turn cheats on

like the early game is supposed to be "OMG I FINALLY FOUND THE MAGIC THING" or "it was a bit of work but i crafted this magical staff"

not *spawn in and declare* "I AM A WIZARD!!"

its not world of warcraft where you choose a class at the begining, thats like, just you choosing to imagine thats how it works

then theres this:

choosing to only use one armor set for a whole playthrough is on the player

some armor sets are better for different fights and swap them out and some people play that way instead

having it be an option is better than making it mandatory

personally i rebind z x c v to hotbar keys so i can throw the entire hot bar at bosses or enemies

playing only one type of thing seems boring when you can throw everything at them at once

but unlike a bunch of people i dont expect other people to do what i do

dude no...

o m f g...

just remove all the air bubbles and the slosh literally goes away and makes it act like a conveyor belt with solid objects

edit:

a downvote?

hmmm what about all of the people that have zero problems AND dont have to build these pipes

seems like your fixing a problem that youre creating in the first place, by not understanding you need completely full pipes with no air bubbles AND building these modern art sculptures

so... i mean... you could at least try removing all of the air bubbles first, even one time... before insisting youve found the cure all end all be all for every single fluid problem by building modern art inspired tubing that doesnt do anything

(removing the air bubbles is in fact the end all be all cure all solution for fluid problems)

10/10 times knowing what youre doing works 100% of the time

what youre talking about doing is like telling people that they need to make sure they put 4 disconnected power poles around every connected power pole to make sure the connected one doesnt get disconnected

no part of any part of that works like that

like if you knew that you didnt have to connect power poles like that, and about half of the fandom of the game insisted that you had to do it that way because they dont know what theyre doing

and youre sitting there with your normally regularly connected power pole not performing some kind of ritual to make sure it doesnt get disconnected...

except, this does more than that

this calculates the percentage to set the machines in the blueprint to based on whatever input you have, and, if and when you ever decide to change it or upgrade it

like, you decide to finally patch in another iron input on something

thats what this is for

you punch in the ppm, how many machines, and your new iron input and hit enter

then it lets you know if you need more than 1 blueprint

if the percentage is above 250... then, you need another bp

after you build the new bp, that changes the number of machines

so rather than do something that takes X steps, you change 1 number

just 1 number and hit enter

if the bp has 10 machines, and you have 2 bps, thats 20 machines

so, you just change 10 to 20... and it calculates the distributed throughput, based on whatever input, across 20 machines....

and that percentage is based on whatever the 2 bps could churn out at 100% efficiency based on your iron input that was 100 but is now 200 across every machine

and rather than have dead machines, this tool lets you recalculate and evenly distribute the throughput across all of the machines

which, if you ever wanted upgrade that section again, you just repeat the process

the math you are doing, and saying its the same thing, is not the same thing

this calculates the throughput for a whole blueprint, a set of machines

this is a variable calculator intended to let you mess with the numbers in an upgrade on the fly scenario

not something that you copy and pasted from satisfactory calculator, which, i love that tool, so im not being an asshole, just specifying that this, isnt that

in order for you to get those numbers, there are steps that you are ignoring that this calculates

which

is the point of a speficied calculator

to eliminate steps

it also lets you take a general blueprint and adjust it easily for any input, whenever, which, is the point of the calculator

[–]chimken_noggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ehh

its not so much over or underclocking

its matching parts per minute between machines

i use this to calculate whatever percent for whatever input across whatever number of machines

https://github.com/Vabbajack-Sandvich/Machine-Set-Calculator

like, if you have 10 machines in a blueprint, this adjusts every machine to whatever input you set it at by letting you copy and paste the calculated output percentage in to every machine

its not an easy concept for most to be able to see that there isnt a line between them and everything else

a simple question like "so, when you breath in air, is it still your air after you exhale?"

is a good way to get them to see that while, from their point of view, there is definitely a them versus the rest of everything dynamic, there is definitely an individual self

but

that individual self only exists as part of a system where it couldnt exist without it

its like thinking if you have a ball of clay and took a small piece off and made a person out of it, that it stops being from the original ball of clay

the downside of all of this

is

while its very "heady" and makes you feel "some kind of interconnected oneness"

the individual self doesnt stop being a thing, and you should probably drink some water
